hello, im interested in purchasing a [slimer](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/characters/slimer) tshirt that was recently added to ebay but the price is kind of steep in my opinion. does anyone know if its really worth that kind of cash. i just started collecting items from the 80s and this shirt would be awesome for my collection. thanks ghostpassenger ---

Welcome aboard, ghostpassenger! 🙂 Unfortunately in cases like this, people pay whatever they feel an item’s worth. How “steep” is the price? If it’s a recently mass-marketed shirt by a licenced retailer, there may be other options to get it cheaper. If it’s a limited print by somebody like Teefury or Ript, then they’ll be subject to supply and demand. ☹ ---

Was [Slimer](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/characters/slimer) even marketed in 1984? It wasn’t until the cartoon that he gained that name and popularity. ---

I really don’t know much about dates but why would a company place 1984 on a shirt though? I tried contacting the seller but they haven’t responded yet ---

That’d in all likelihood be the copyright date. As _Ghostbusters_ was released in 1984, that’s the year the film and most of it’s iconic original content would’ve been copyrighted for protection. Even if an item has been released after 2000, you’ll still see “Copyright 1984” on the packaging. The only other reason a date would be added is to tie into the shirt’s theming, but usually in these cases the date is made quite large and prominent as part of the design. ---

$20? It’s not going to be worth more than that. If the seller balks and says “It’s from 1984!”, explain the flaw in his logic as detailed in this thread. ---

Hello there! I have the exact same shirt in my closet and I can tell you that I got it at Hot Topic in the mall circa 2003-2004. It is most certainly not worth $250!!! I bought the exact same shirt for my brother but for under $20! Please do not pay that price! Hope that helps! ---
