# A Question About Traps

I know the Ghostbusters use the streams from their proton guns to capture and put ghosts in the trap. I am just confused with one thing. When Stanz puts a trap in the [containment unit](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/containment-unit) in the 1st movie, he puts the whole box in and then seems to take out the handle part. Then he seems to throw away the whole trap! I am confused.

The trap has a detachable cartridge that slides into the [containment unit](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/containment-unit).

He threw away the part with the handle, side panels and wheels.

He doesn’t throw it away. Presumably he can load another cartridge in there while the other is in the [containment unit](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/containment-unit).

At some point they have to get those cartridges out of the ecu. I mean, why not just flush it into the system and recycle the cartridges?
