Hello everyone. I’m doing this a few months after I joined because I was…away… for a while.

I’m in the midsouth/ southeast united states. I grew up on Ghostbusters. I loved the cartoon to death, and had to be taken screaming out of the theatre watching the second movie. I owned a slew of the Toys, and even bought (a little late) the NES game. I similarly got to watch the [Extreme Ghostbusters](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/extreme-ghostbusters) series when it first came out, enjoying it more than I thought I would. As the major push faded, I grabbed significantly less ghostbusters material as it just wasn’t as available, but stopped to watch it on TV every chance I got, and grabbed the toys from any sales and bins when I found them there. In my teen years I attempted a couple props for GB among my other odd attempts, but failed miserably.

As I explored interest in Literature, Film, and writing I grew to appreciate the films, particularly the first, more and more, able to note the nuance, and compare it readily to other films and works I enjoyed greatly. I readily compare the film to the best of comedy, citing it comparable in comedic style to a Marx Brothers film, something that tends to annoy other film buffs a bit. Ghostbusters was one of the first films (followed shortly by it’s mate) I bought on DVD when I started my collection (the VHS was a regular before that).

I missed out on the 88MPH comic when it came out, but did find a back issue later. The Neca figures impressed me, but it was at about that time I was in a bit of a state mentally, and couldn’t really touch them. The next big revival came around just a couple years ago, when I was starting to actively geek out again, and I found the franchise in full force once more. I’ve dug up two of the [Mattel](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/toys/mattel) Figures (I hate missing announcements) and have a small army of minimates and Stay pufts from the new merch. The new comics are fun, and it’s nice to find a fandom that’s so generally upbeat.

My favorite part of Ghostbusters will probably always remain the first film, one of (if not the) greatest films of the eighties. perfect chemistry and style. Still, I’ve found little without something to enjoy.

I originally found this forum on wimsey, but was glad to find it. It’s got nice people to talk with this stuff about, and now that I’ve gotten more into prop/costume making again, I’m already eyeing a few [GB projects](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/fans/websites/gb-project).
