Black Ecto?....

The car is being given to me but its not mine. To save money on insurance everything is under my mom’s name. Keep in mind this is my only car and the point of giving it to me is so I have a reliable car with a warranty. I wish I could sell it and do an original Ecto. Perhaps when I stop working at TJ Maxx and get a real job I will. For now I’m gonna keep the Jeep and do my own thing.

What I am building to here is that a lot of people see an off-color Ecto (hell, even an off-model Ecto) as a sign of laziness. I’ve been here for years and every time a black car comes along, the owner always goes “well that is what the original idea for the car was going to be in the first script!” and yet I doubt anyone will ever see a black Ecto drive by and go “Oh look, that car looks just like the concept art vehicle from Ghostbusters!” With the exception of the NJ vehicle, pretty much every off-color modern Ecto has been a huge flop around here.

Thanks for the mention Boomer. I will admit, driving a black ecto, I agree that it would be more recogniseable with a better overall appearence in white. Also much easier to photograph at night.

I looked into switching vehicles last year to a white jeep liberty, but the ecto is an 11 year old toyota with 100,000 miles on it, and no car payment. Minimal resell value, but it’s going to last me at least another 100K miles.

Theres just something weird about a white rav4 though.

It’s getting a paint job this summer to fix some issues from the prior owner, but I’m still debating if I want to change colors or not. What do you think?
