Hey, everybody. My brother is currently going to school for photography and I was able to talk him into doing a photo shoot for the Central Ohio Ghostbusters. Right now, we’re looking at the first or second Saturday of May. (May 1st or 8th - leaning towards the 1st.) Location is still up in the air, but we’ve been talking about going to this cemetery that he’s shot at before that has all these cool looking mausoleums. Still, we’re up for suggestions if you can think of any cool, spooky looking places. So, I just wanted to see who all was interested. Let me know if you have any preference on the date, but we want to get it locked in asap. (I need to put in a schedule request at work and the more notice I give the better.) Good idea, Trav. We need some good promo shots for the ROGB Central. I’m good for either weekend. as long as it’s on Saturday. But I’ll check with the misses and see if we’re free that weekend. Hmm…I’m running into the exact opposite, I’m free on those Sundays, but Saturdays are going to be tight. I have my son’s soccer and a few evening events. May be able to squeeze something into the afternoon, but not sure. 8th is looking a little better than the 1st. ---

Just a quick update: I looked up the website for the cemetery my brother suggested ([Green Lawn](http://www.greenlawncolumbus.org)) and it looks really cool. Judging by the pictures on the web site, I think we could come up with some great shots. ---

Haha, we’re SO going to get dirty looks for walking around a cemetary in Ghostbuster gear. This is going to be awesome! 😃 I had thought about trying to find an old abandoned house out in the boonies somewhere and go near dark…but have no idea where to find something like that and if we’d be able to even get in for pics without getting shot or something. Need more contacts who own old creepy houses… ---

I really like the look of the grain elevator. Any type of old, industrial building like that would make for some really cool shots. I’m just worried about trespassing. Before we did any place like that, we’d have to determine just how public it really is. I mean, if we can just walk right up to it, then great. That’s basically what we did for my Halloween pictures. (I wouldn’t say we snuck around for those inside shots, but lets just say we tried not to advertise our presence.) If there are fences and signs, however, I’d be a little hesitant. As for Green Lawn, I also asked myself if it would be in bad taste to take these kind of pictures there, but I really don’t think so. I mean, as long as we don’t run through someone’s funeral procession shouting about ghost, I don’t think anyone will really mind. Anyway, after looking at the web site, it looked to me like this place is more of a nature park that happens to have a cemetery in it. I mean, I don’t think Ghostbusters pictures are in any more bad taste then guided tours. Another thought I had: Is anyone here particularly good with Photoshop? After we’re done taking these photos, it might be kinda cool to add in some effects. We took a few pictures in my Halloween shoot with the intention of adding in some ghost and such, but never got around to it. ---

I noodle a bit with Photoshop so I might be able to add in some effects. I’d be willing to bet there are tutorials on the subject. Also kinda agree on Greenlawn Cemetery being a de facto nature preserve. Dr. Mrs. Lather expressed interest in going for birdwatching. ---

Humm… i’m with travis, it would be bad taste to take these kind of pictures there especially in green lawn. Has anyone consider of maybe doing some photoshoots around the columbus downtown area?? There are alot of great sight scenes for us to checkout. i’ve was downtown earlier today and have a awesome idea of us doing an photoshoot on the santa maria boat.. sounds cool huh? just an thought. ---

The description of the location around the grain elevator did not sit well with me… for it to be described as the line of demarcation for a literal “wrong side of the tracks” as well as the site of police patrols makes me think that the a group of guys in costume with mysterious gear strapped to their backs might attract unwanted attention. I’m also coming over to Travis’ way of thinking regarding Greenlawn… while our intentions are pure and we would be respectful of the environment, anyone going to visit departed loved ones is just going to see a bunch of costumed goofs. What about a (for lack of a better term) crawl down the more retail-oriented areas of German Village? Given the positive reaction Jon, Travis and I got just by showing up at North Market unannounced I would wager that more of us might see more of that in German Village. Can you imagine a half-dozen of us crashing Schmidt’s Sausage Haus for an early dinner? ---

I’m sorri guys but i won’t be taken any-part of anything that involves cemeteries. Just to be clear, I personally _don’t_ think it would be in bad taste. What I was trying to say before is that I considered it, but decided that I didn’t think so. For what it’s worth, I don’t think us walking around in GB uniforms is any more disrespectful to the dead or their families then all the people walking around birdwatching or going on guided tours with guides in period costums. But that’s just me. If a bunch of us are against it, I totally respect that and I’m also cool with skipping it for right now. Also, as far as the Grain Elevator, Jared himself vetoed it. He said that he’d love to shoot it, but apparently cops patrol the area very heavily. He has suggested a few other locations off of the website Jon posted including Fort Hayes and the Knox County Poor House. He and I are still brainstorming, though. I’m not very familiar with the German Village area, so you’ll have to fill me in a little on that. I don’t know if this is what it’s really like, but when you said retail, I starting thinking of department stores and that’s not exactly what I had in mind. I thought it would be cool to get some professional ‘in action’ shots, like we’re really Ghostbusters out on a job. That’s why I’ve been suggesting creepy places like cemeteries, old factories, ect. We can get shots of us mingling with the public any time we go to a con. (That being said, a big crawl of Columbus or German Village still sounds like a fun thing to do as a separate event.) There was a point where my camera’s batteries died and I had to go back to my van. As I was walking back to the house, the whole time I was thinking of Ray saying “What about the packs? WHAT ABOUT THE PACKS!?” Another nice point for this place is that it’s pretty remote. In the 15-20 minutes I was there, only a few cars drove by, and with the way the roads are laid out, I doubt any of them actually saw me. That being said, the place seems fairly public. No fences and the only ‘no trespassing’ signs were on the doors, so as long as we don’t try to go inside (which I’d advise against anyway), I don’t think we’d be breaking any rules. There churches in front and behind the place, so it’s definitely a public area. So, what do you guys think? ---

Dr. Mrs. Lather had the good suggestion of the [Mansfield Reformatory](http://www.mrps.org/). There are already ghost tours there, so obviously it’s possible to lurk about inside the place and take pictures. It is worth noting, however, that anything involving ourselves in full gear would most likely involve calling ahead and securing permission from the folks there. We’d need to take a daytime guided tour as all of the unguided nighttime “ghost walks” and “ghost hunts” are already sold out for 2010… not to mention that we being our goofy fictional selves would probably honk off the _serious_ ghost hunters. Thoughts? I don’t want to see this thread die! ---

Yeah, sorry. Didn’t mean to let it die down so much. Lots of events and stuff lately grabbing my attention. As for now, it looks like we’re doing the Knox County Poorhouse on the 8th. I ABSOLUTELY want to do Mansfield/Shawshank at some point, though. It’ll require a little bit of planning, but that would be a lot of fun to do.
