The Pack was being shipped internationally as its owner was moving to Romania, its intended packaging failed at the airport on the American side of the Atlantic, necessitating an improvised replacement for the trans-Atlantic journey.
The recollected account from the time is that the Venkman Semi-Hero was stolen at the receiving airport in Romania, and something catastrophic happened to it either during the theft or during the recovery
The debris of the Venkman Semi-Hero was returned to the Pack’s owner, and amongst that, only the bumper could be salvaged.
I’ve heard stories of Columbia execs borrowing GB props for Halloween parties and never returning them. If I had to guess, that’s probably the fate of some of the missing production packs. It’s also possible Michael Gross kept one and later sold, much like the hero trap, amongst other production goodies.
