Commodore 64 in the 80’s was the best selling video game “personal computer” in the 1980’s.

Sure it lacked video. But I remember the sound, and recently have refound the amazing sound.

I was young at the time, but I will never forget being blown away by the sound.

It beat NES, Sega, Atari, Apple, and many other competition. The sound made it so great.

But alas, we all started going to graphics over sound.

Anyways, I figured I would post this, GHOSTBUSTERS ON THE COMMODORE 64!

Plus many others covers, and randoms.

This guy recorded them onto his Commodore64. And 8bit sounds amazing.

Speaking of which, and I was going to make a thread about this, but does anyone have good scans of the manual, and the other paperwork that came with the game?..AJ?..

I have a copy of it, and I may be able to scan it (I don’t have a scanner, but I can use my friend’s).

Maybe somebody else already has a high-res scan saved for you… AJ?..

I won’t apologize for the necro-post, since when I first began lurking here there were all sorts of remonstrations over people starting new threads with similar topics.

This thread showed up in my search as I was trying to find any info here on the game. Did you ever get good scans?

I was sifting through a whole container of [Real Ghostbusters](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/games/the-real-ghostbusters-activison) toy boxes and found my crushed C64 GB game box. No big loss, I bought it second-hand and it was always roughly beaten since it’s been in my collection.

I haven’t scanned this wrinkly flier yet, but I did take a photo of the mail-away offer on the back. Anyone have info on this stuff? Anyone got one of these kits?

Box art scan found online:

I’m pretty sure I have a non _wrimkly_ original insert/instruction from a PC version of the game. I was planning to share it when I have a chance. It was included with a used copy of the game I bought (more for collectibility as I can’t play it) off eBay a couple of years back.

As for the C64 version of Ghostbusters, I may have played it. I do remember playing it on a computer when I was a kid. I don’t remember which “port” of it was. Within a few years I was definitely able to play the less “cool” NES version.

Not trying to derail this thread any more then necessary and hopefully I will contribute to the topic more. I’ll try to keep this short. I was referring to the NES version with major hindsight. Although of course the game was different then the movie as a kid its what my family had, we didn’t have one of those fancy expensive computers. I enjoyed the NES version, even though I never beat it until years later. At least it wasn’t the BTTF game for NES which in some ways barely resembled its namesake movie.

I am a ghosthead of my word.

Most likely in 2011 when I could afford to either buy or bid on Ghostbusters/RGBs merchandise almost as much as I wanted 😑 I became the owner of not 1, but 2 C64 Ghostbusters floppies with instructions. It didn’t come with the original box. Even without the box and knowing I’ll probably never play this version with the disc I had intended at some point to scan and share the instructions.

Thanks to this thread and a little _motivation_ from Ectofiend666 and Alex, I got the diskettes and instructions out. Unless its from age or a “misprint” in color from Activision, one version of the logo and graphics is more of a maroon then a red. I wanted to show both with some scans.

The instructions are original scans, I haven’t cleaned them up. They were only sharpened slightly with the HP Scan software. Because of the 150-300 res, here are the links.

I almost forgot, here is what the 1.44 diskette looked like in its sleeve. I presume this is the original one from Activision. It would have been nice to see more GB artwork. What game company wants to spend more money?

Chance I actually destroyed the game with a scanner? :-o

Thanks for sharing!

I don’t think the color difference is due to age. Look at the face of the no-ghost. The top one looks like it was drawn freehand or possibly traced, while the other one looks like the regular logo.

Looks like a legitimate variation, two different printing batches.

You’re welcome. 8)

I didn’t look that close at the more “maroonish” _no ghost_ logo. Now that I look at it more closely, it may have been hand drawn. Yeah, I leaned more towards the color variations were due to printing. I would like to see a photo or photos of the material being printed. Only if someone had a smart phone, a network connection, and a way to share such a photo back then.

I love and spent (too many) hours on the C64 Ghostbusters game. All that video was lacking was the strange male “Ghostbusters bwahahahahaha!” that would scare the ■■■■ out of me every time the game completed loading.

Thanks for posting the scans, Spengs. There was also an insert advertisement for other Activision titles like Toy Bizarre where there was an awesome illustration of [Slimer](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/characters/slimer) coming out of a computer screen. I’m heading to my folks’ home for the holidays and I’ll see if I can snag a photo of it for the group, it remains some of my favorite GB art to date.

It was a little tri-fold booklet if memory serves that was packed in with the game. I’ll see if I can track it down next week.
