Thanks. I really hope it turns out ok. I worked on the door panels today so I think I should have most of it put togeather soon.
Did some more work on the interior and added a back seat.
Should be able to finish it up in a few days.
Good work on the Interior of the Ecto. The Back Seat came out nice and I like the Bits N’ Bobs you’ve attached to the Headliner. Have you been using any Screen Caps as reference or doing this on the fly?
A little bit of both. I went though the first season dvd’s to find some reference images, the exterior was pretty helpful but the interior changes a lot in each episode depending on the need for that particular story, i.e. having the ecto-2 in the back or having more than the main guys riding in it. I wanted to try the back seat, but I think if I build another one I’m going to cast the front seat and shave it down to fit so it will look more factory. It’s funny, when I was a kid I wanted all my toys to look just like the movie, but now as an adult I want them to look just like the cartoon. Guess I’m never satisfied LOL

Hey no lashing from me. I love the movies but I also love the original 78 episodes, before all the changes. You’re right there was a certain charm to those, well written with humor and adventure with a little horror thrown in. Some people hated the suit color changes, but I loved 'em. To me it just went with the theme of expanding and exploring each character. I love the fact that Winston became a a prominent character like the rest instead of just a supporting one like in the movies. Ernie Hudson was great, and I always thought he deserved more screen time with the rest of them. But I loved all of their cartoon personalities, Peter was apathetic with delusions of grandeur, Winston was hesitant and played the straight man, Ray was childlike and easily excitable, and Egon was logical and deadpan. Man, now I’m gonna have to get the dvd’s out and start watching them again. LOL

tw1478, Winston rocked in the cartoons because he was actually one of the Fab Four, I think the reason Earnie Hudson didn’t quite get more movie lines was the fact that he wasn’t really a big name in cinema like Rick, Sigourney, Harold, Dan and Bill, I am not the biggest GB2 fan but I did prefer Ernie in the second film as opposed to the first because he felt more like a Fab Four Member instead of a sidekick to the Core Three
I don’t know if you ever played the Ghostbusters game that came out a couple years ago, but they let Ernie do a lot more in it. It wasn’t made so much like a game as it was a movie. Actually I think a lot of people consider it to basically be a third movie, it is better than GB2 in story and has an overall feel more like the first movie.
I beat that game and I’m no video game buff, Ghostbusters the video game was a master piece, it was created using the script for what would have been GB3
Well here is my finished RGB cartoon Ecto-1. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out.
Nice job on your Ecto restoration. :nicejobyoudid: It does mimic the look of the Cartoon version quite well. I especially like your Interior Details and the fact that you added the Hood Ornament. It also compliments your repainted GB Figures, they make a nice set.

I’m thinking about doing another set based on the idea of The Real Ghostbusters in Ghostbusters 2, using the power pack heroes. I always thought of them as the RGB GB2 uniforms since they came out with the movie and the new version of Ecto-1. I was thinking like a cartoon version of slime blowers and ecto-1a. I remember a comic from when I was a kid that was an adaptation of GB2 staring the RGB cast. I just wish I could remember what everything looked like in it.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Wow, lol, thanks Cap. You pretty much just answered every question I had about this idea for a project in one post. I appreciate all the info. Going off of your own model it doesn’t look there was as much difference from the movie as I thought there would be. I guess i kinda thought the roof would be more simplified like the cartoon is from the first movie, but all those parts look fairly easy to make. I’m gonna start browsing ebay for some ecto’s and figures. I was thinking on the figures just restoring them and removing the GB logo from the chest and placing a new GB2 logo on the shoulder, making 2 new packs for Peter and Egon and molding 2 cartoon style slime blowers for Ray and Winston. Is there anything else you think should be changed on the uniforms?
Started working on the RGB slime blower today. It’s all pieced together I just need to make a mold of it and cast a solid resin prototype. It doesn’t look like much now, but I think once its a solid piece and painted it will really look right. From what I can tell from the comic adaptation they don’t wear vests just regular straps, so I may not need to customize the figures any.
Right now I just have a push pin for the gun handle but I plan on replacing that with an acrylic rod when I get some more in.
It does look like in some shots John Tobias tried to draw the harnesses/vests on, but the colorist didn’t pay attention and just colored them the same color as Ray and Winston’s flight suits. Example:

The slime blowers are off to a great start. I tried to make slime blowers out of plastic coin tubes and marker caps back in the day. They…didn’t look very good.
Well since I’m making these for the power pack heroes, Winston and Ray both have red straps (I always wondered if they had originally planned to package that line with packs and blowers instead), so I may paint the blowers yellow with red accents to match them, but I am going to make a regular mold so I can cast more, if I decide to do a movie version I will definitely need to come up with something for the vests though.
