THIS is definitely a Canadian thing! Every time I watch the Beetlejuice cartoon, it’s ALL punny. Definitely the punnier the better!
We had the He-Man chant going with a few people at my first GB decked con. If you want people to laugh (or shut-up) be sure to quote, “and it don’t look good” and be sure to “grab a beer” during the chant. It worked pretty well for us
Yeah, generally when our group goes out to events and cons and we get the “Who ya gonna call?” yells, we respond with “us!”, which generally gets a good laugh, or sometimes a confused face til they get it. I find the “someone else” and “He-Man” response doesn’t get recognized to quick by the casual fans. Maybe if I just sported the ■■■■ 'stache it’d be better recognized?? lol.
Anyways, the point is, just have fun interacting with people in general with responses to things. Especially pics. People like to know your having fun interacting with them because they can be a bit timid with wanting to interact and it makes them more comfortable, which makes for a more fun time for everyone!
Depending on who’s asking (you can sometimes tell), we pull out the juvenile “your mom” in response, and it gets a pretty good laugh… judge your audience, I guess… if you see little kids dressed up like Batman or other superheroes, you can direct the attention to them and call them out, the kids love being the center of attention… until they see all the eyes on them, and they run behind their parents… but that gives the parents a good laugh, so win-win situation…
we didnt really give ourselves great access to our phones, but im hoping to see some pics we took with people around the con! my fiance has 2 or 3 on hers il upload to the album later!
Anybody got tips on finding photos taken by Con attendees of yourself and your Franchise? I suck at it (especially since I hardly ever use stuff like Instagram and Twitter… shoot, I don’t even have accounts for those), but it seems others have no problems tracking them down…
One thing the UK Ghostbusters and myself enjoy doing is playing music for other people’s costumes out of our packs. I use an ipod 6 gen with a watch strap, have the chord run up my arm and out my neck and into my pack, it’s very subtle. So say for example I see some Trekkies, I’ll play the Star Trek theme. It really puts a smile on people’s faces
I do that for the little MLP fans, especially the little kids dressed up as their favorite ponies, and I’ll play a song from the soundtrack related to the character they chose… Nothing beats seeing a kid light up from hearing a song they love play out of nowhere! It helps my own kids calm down as well…
The reason I went with the watch idea is that it’s a bit more subtle than changing tracks with your smart phone. I found bringing my phone out kinda broke character and ruined the illusion somewhat. With the watch, i can quickly change tracks, I have playlists set up, albums etc. I find it much more convenient. I bet certain smart watches could do the same thing though paired with your phone
