What do you personally call the GhostBusters vehicle of choice?
To me it’ll always be the “Ecto-1”
Got the siren as my message tone…gets some funny looks on the bus when I get a text lol
I prefer to only capitalize the letters in Ghostbusters that are supposed to capitalized, myself.

I always called the Ecto 1 … Ecto 1. But if there’s a fan made car, I call it an “Ectomobile”. At least until they tell me what they call it (“Ecto 5A” for example).
Well, sometimes I capitalise both the G and the B as do alot of people…otherwise this site would be GFans, correct?
Oh yeah and the title card on the movie is Ghost Busters, just sayin’.
Whilst there are rare occasions that I’ll use “Ectomobile”, I’ve always preferred “Ecto-1”. It was the name on the number plate, it’s the name used in the cartoon, and was used in the game, and is much more personal than “Ectomobile”.
Ectomobile was simply the term used by Dan Aykroyd to name the vehicle in the script. Considering themed vehicles are often called “mobils” such as the classic batmobile, it makes sense. Was Ptobably something changed once the vehicle was given an official name and concepts were being drawn. That and Ecto-1 fits on a liscence plate.
HOWEVER, this does make sense if you wanted to say all GB vehicles are infact Ectomobiles. Ecto-1 was simply the first.

I never refer to the original film car without an article before it. You’ll never hear me say “Ecto” as a name. It’s always the Ecto-1 or the Ecto.
Well, I’d call Batmans car “The Batmobile” because that’s part of it’s name. If you had a car and you named it “Dave”, would you say “Quick everyone, into The Dave”?

It really bugged me how the production of RGB shortened it for a while to “Ecto”, the shortened name just seemed too gimmicky.

I’ve always referred to it as the Ecto-1 like Boomer. I didn’t even know the term Ectomobile existed until I registered here.
My own car in particular is always referred to as the Ecto. Obviously we don’t mean it to suggest that it is the definitive replica, I’d compare it to saying “I’m going to pick up Lea in the Jeep.” Seldom is it referred to as the 2K or whatever. Whenever there’s a hearse meet or something Zach always asks, “Are you going to bring Ecto?” and each time it drives me freaking nuts.

^^^ Exactly. I didn’t mind when they called it the “Ecto” in RGB. We knew what they ment and so did they. It was just for short. For instance Ray would sometimes call Peter “Pete” in RGB as well. Ray called Winston “Z” a couple times in the video game. Nick names just show fondness, and/or shorten a name that is used frequently for convenience. They weren’t trying to rename the Ecto 1 or anything. :whatever:

I call it the 1A. No Ecto, no Ectomobile. BECAUSE THE OTHER CAR DOESN’T EXIST IN MY WORLD.
