Electronics Questions and Storage

Hi,

I am about to have someone mail me a completed pack. I just have a few general questions. I am thinking I may have to re-wire based on youtube videos of previous work, but I will have to check and see.

First, the back of the proton pack.

Blue lights go from Bottom to Top?

Red lights go clockwise?

Second, the proton pack’s gun.

I have seen different placement of the gun’s buttons and what they do on the pack. From youtube videos I think I have it figured out, but to double check the function and order of presses until you fire. Below the numbers are where I think the order goes when looking at the gun.

4 2

3 1

1 turns on the gun.

2 turns on the pack.

3 turns on the vent (safety disabled?)

4 fires

Please let me know on the gun. From a youtube video I saw of the seller’s previous work it looks like the buttons are a tiny bit off, but should be an easy fix with some electrical tape and a soldering iron (hyperdyne kit).

Also. I don’t see why it won’t work, but I grabbed a A style retractable guitar stand.

I think it should work. Just wanted to see if anyone has this model and if it works. I know proton packs are not uniform, but should be close based on measurements and dimensions on gbfans.

Sounds right on all counts.

Technically you don’t need switch 2 to turn on the pack, switch 1 can do both at once.

The movies are inconsistant as to what switch does what. In the courtroom scene in GB2 they use switch 3 to turn the whole thing on. There’s also one scene where someone (I forget who/where, possibly GB1) uses switch 2 to turn on the vent.

That is kind of what I thought. In the youtube video (of course a couple years old) button 2 (top right) fired the pack. Everywhere else I look it is button 4 (top left) that fired the pack. It is minor, but top left just looks right to fire the proton pack for easy reach. Should be a simple little fix, but will have to wait and see. For all I know he could have fixed it as he has improved the packs over time.

You might be thinking of the closeup of Winston’s thrower in GB1, but I’m. pretty sure he flipped switch 1.

I plan to use switch 2 for a kill switch, switch 1 to turn on the vent, and switch 3 to turn on the pack. If you throw switch 1 prior to throwing switch 3, both the vent and the pack will start at the same time. So the effect is consistent with either movie.

I looked at that stand, but felt that the bottom loops wouldn’t wrap around the base of the pack properly and the height of the stand was too short that the pack would tip over easily. All depends on your pack’s design and weight, so it might work in your favor.

The scene with Ray in the hotel, when he first encounters Slimer…you can see the vent lights shine up at him.

The stand is about 2 feet tall. From the looks of it it will work. I will have the stand on an old kitchen chair I used to use to aim my box fan in my bedroom. It looks wide enough on the arms. The back rest is minor as it will be sitting on a stand that is on a chair, so it will have back support via the chair. I just wanted the guitar stand to more or less hold the pack and keep it from falling over on the side.

Also, the switch thing turned out fine. 4 fires the gun as well as music. Also, a button on the gun will activate the pack. Glad he fixed them over time.

glad you got a pack that your happy with.. and that your not here talking about a story of someone ripping you off like i constantly read. and also im glad to hear you have lights and sound on your pack which really is a great thing and sells it well..

can you post some pics of the pack up here for all to see?

Have not got it yet. Been asking the maker questions after noticing some odd items on the pack. In general it is a great pack. Glad he re-organized the electronics and removed the back light switch from the ion arm. He’s also added a battery compartment that can be accessed without removing the 10 or so hex screws that hold the shell on to the board and alice frame. I’ll be posting more than pics. Some of my family got wind of it so I will be posting a youtube video as well. Probably even post pics of me in GB 2 Uniform. The uniform is loosly accurate. No dying, so it is flat black. Also the elbows are not screen accuate, but they are dyed. Just waiting on the pack and the lifegard unit I bought over the weekend. The only thing it is missing from the pack is the green lever and that is minor. I can always add that later. Regardless the “make’m hard” option was never super important to me on the proton gun.

be carful with that guitar stand the 2 prongs that the pack will sit on WILL scratch the paint

i suggest you glue something soft on to it i used rubber on mine

i did mine a bit different

1 turns on the gun.

2 turns on the pack.

3 disables safety, changes some lights

4 fires (vent flashes)
