heat is not an issue since the accurate style flashbulb is a single use bulb hence the reason for the orange light to indicate to the props people that the thrower would need a new bulb before the next take.

when the barrel is fully extended(it wasnt in that picture), the metal ring fitting it is attached to fills that gap.

Well, should have pulled out..!. \>\_\<

I wish I could take that gun apart.

Question, does the handle on that particular gun have the 1/4 turn twist or not?

And does the green lever do anything?

Is the clear tube spring loaded? Does it lock back?

I have a small hand-held strobe light that isn’t LED. It has a tiny repeatable flash bulb, but runs on 2 AA batteries, and has a switch to adjust the frequency of the flash, either slow or fast. The flashing seems to be pretty random, as it doesnt’ even start flashing when you turn it on immediately. It’s more of a random buildup of charge, then release, then repeat situation.

I’ve used that strobe in my trap at several events where we skitted throwing out an open trap to catch a bad guy.

If I wanted to mount a reuseable flash bulb somewhere on my thrower and didn’t mind departing from the original design, that’s definately where I’d start. I imagine those flashing LED’ sI have backed up with a strobe light would look pretty damn cool.

Something that just popped in there..

Since the bulbs are used on cameras, could it be possible the circuit powering the bulb and the orange light was gutted from a camera? If the old cameras used the same "warning’ light, it would make sense. Because it doesn’t seem very practical to come up with a circuit to power a light which only serves to indicate the bulb next to it is blown.

Just wondering

I hooked up one of my flashbulbs tonight (i have the same ones that Jacks pics show) to two AA’s and it was extremely bright. They will make an awesome addition to a prop once a good circut configuration comes up.

I’ve actually dropped the “blown bulb indicator” idea as we don’t see the orange light on more often after the thower is fired. You can even see the light turn off after Peter releases the button when capturing [slimer](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/characters/slimer):

I don’t know why the light stays on in the one shot when they approach the trap but that’s the only time it’s shown on without the button depressed.

I also never understood why there would be such an indicator light. Cameras didn’t have it, and I don’t see a need for production to be reminded to replace a flash bulb. So it probably was just a second light in the same switched circuit. One goes pop, one stays on.

I’ve had an idea in my head for awhile for hooking up a camera strobe flash into the barrel. I once had a camera that when the flash was charged, a green LED would light up. Something similar for the gun I thought would be a little more ideal than replacing a flash bulb everytime you hit the gun ear switch.

The flash is a cool effect I hope someone rigs it up

There are wedge bases out there, the actual socket used was a 2-pin though. i haven’t done much looking for a while.

Are you talking about the socket for the bulbs?

That is the same bulb “mold” as a standard 12V light used in older cars. My cutlass uses that socket for the kick panels, glove compartment, trunk, and under the hood lights.

i know what youre talking about regarding the lights on your car and its not the same type of socket that was down in the barrel of the thrower.
