That is the absolute worst idea I’ve ever seen. I wish kickstarter had some kind of standards for the projects that they allow. That is as low class as you can get. They might as well come into the chat room and start begging for free [proton packs](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack) (that happens about monthly but it usually turns out to be a little kid). What excuse do grown men have for panhandling so that they can play dress up? The sad part is, this will probably work too. 😑 ---

While skimming the link, I originally thought that they were raising money for a group in need such as a poor family or something. Instead it’s so they can buy materials to build better packs for themselves to maybe raise money for charity. This is pretty sick. ---

**Hey guys, do you want to help a charity in need?** Well give me money so I can buy some newer lightbars for the Ecto, and then I’ll use that lightbar on my car to help charities. If you give me fifty bucks or more, I’ll even write a letter to say thank you, and take a picture of my new lightbar. ---

I am one of the founding members of the NCI Ghostbusters group, and I must say that this project is most definitely not tied to us. While we had at one point posted a kickstarter project to raise money for a possible fan film (which we only advertised to our facebook fans) it was unsuccessful and ultimately ended. It now appears that our name was mentioned in a scheme to raise money for [Proton Packs](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack). I can definitely say we have no need for anyone else to make and donate packs to us. I have built several packs over the past few years, have made packs for our group, and am in the process of building new upgraded packs for us. I already took care of getting the kickstarter project closed down as we were mentioned without consent. We do not want any illicit activities associated with our group, and I wanted everyone here to know that we were not involved with this. ---

That sounds like a great excuse but why was the kickstarter project listed on your facebook page until you were called out? You sure did get that project taken down in a jiffy though. Normally when you “report” something that’s being done online it takes a bit of research on behalf of the hosting site. Your project says "Funding for this project was canceled by the project creator 8 minutes ago. " Shouldn’t it say “Funding for this project was canceled by Kickstarter” if it was because of a report that you submitted? Lying only makes things worse. Have some class and tell the truth, you’ve insulted the community twice today. Once by thinking you can beg for money to build [proton packs](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack) and no one would care and second by thinking that the community is so stupid that you could just backpedal your way out of this and we’d blindly believe anything you say. ---

As I said, we had a kickstarter project listed on our facebook page, but it was for the funding of a fanfilm, not to raise money for packs. We have no need to raise money for packs, as I already have molds and supplies and am more than capable of building them myself. I have even built packs for members on here before that can vouch for that fact. ---

Fan films are also not worthy of donations. If you can’t handle it on your own then don’t get involved. GBNH made theirs with a budget of about $20 and it was spectacular. ---

Vince has terrific points when it comes to your alleged claims of zero connection to the kickstarter and the amount of time it took to take the link down on your facebook and the cancellation of the kickstarter - which was what, less than four minutes? We only set up the fan film kickstarter project as a way for our friends and family who wanted to help out to be able to easily donate. We never advertised it anywhere but our facebook page, and it was meant to be only for those who personally knew us and wanted to be involved. We had no intentions of trying to solicit money from strangers or anything. Any money we raise doing parades, or other events goes directly to charity. We set up the fan film kickstarter page as a separate thing for any friends family or fans on our facebook page who wanted to help with the film specifically. That way there was no question as to what their donation was to be used for. I took down our post about our fan film kickstarter page as it had been canceled days earlier, and because someone had posted a comment on it referencing this other kickstarter project and using language that was not appropriate for our family friendly facebook page. I did not want it being seen by anyone and having them think poorly of our group for allowing that kind of language. Believe me, we are a group of honest guys genuinely trying to better our community. We haven’t done many events yet, only a couple parades last year, and a car show we hosted, but all proceeds we raised went to Riley Children’s Hospital (a large children’s hospital in our state). The last thing we want is to be tied to something underhanded. We work hard to keep a positive image in our community, and we have many young fans who look up to us. ---

Even if that is the case, you’re still lying about the [Proton Pack](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack) project. Both projects are setup by the same account. You’re only digging a deeper hole. When are all these new “franchises” going to realize that “charity” work is not a get out of jail free card. You are still accountable for your actions and whether you like it or not you are representing us ALL the second you put on the uniform. ---

I am not lying about the pack project. It is somewhat complicated to explain, but the original project we posted was done with our account set us as NCI Ghostbusters as we were representing our group. Everyone in the group was given access to the account info so that we could all post updates as needed, add photos, etc. When it became apparent that the fan film project was not going to be completed, I cancelled that project but left our account open for any future use. The “Left Hand Studio” name that now appears as the account username is actually the name of my new website I am building for my new employment venture. It is still a work in progress and I have not unveiled it to the public yet. I did share the link with a few friends, including the guys in the group to get feedback before making it live. The [proton pack](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack) photo that was put on this pack project on kickstarter is a photo taken from my new website. Since the photos are only posted on there, and havent been shared anywhere else it limits the number of people who knew where to find them to a very small group of people. I do not positively know who screwed with the account, but I have my suspicions of one of the members of our group. We have been going through the process of putting new membership guidelines into place, and there have been some hard feelings between myself and another member. I am not going to definitively say who it was, because I cannot prove it, but believe me I will be getting to the bottom of this, and their time with the group may be limited. Thankfully they werent smart enough to change the account password after doing all this, so I was able to go in and cancel the project and close the account so no more damage could be done. I have also reported the posting to kickstarter to get it removed from the site, as I do not want my upcoming website to be tied to the project in any way.
