As I have said, we have no need for funding for a project like that. I already have a mold made for making fiberglass packs, and am more than capable of building the packs needed for our group. We do not need donations to pay for them, and would never ASK for donations to pay for them. I also am not finished with my website, and was most definitely not ready for it to be unveiled to the public. I am extremely ■■■■■■ that this has happened, and will be taking any action I can to make sure it does not happen again. I have put too much work into building a good reputation over the years to have it ruined by someone else’s stupid actions. I am very protective of my branding, and how it is used. Not only was the [proton pack](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack) photo stolen, but a crudely altered version of my logo was set as the account profile photo. It angers me how some people have no respect for other people’s property. I know some of you will not believe me, or are too excited to be on a witch hunt against the perceived “new group”, but I am being completely honest about this issue. My group has worked hard to do good in our community, and to represent the Ghostbuster fan community well. That is why we implemented the strict behavioral, dress, and appearance guidelines for our group that most likely caused all this. We set strict standards to ensure we always put our best foot forward and represent ourselves and the group well, and it has not set well with everyone within the group. I hope at least some of you will see through this issue and realize there is a good group of guys trying to have fun, make people smile, and do work for a good cause. We would never ask for strangers to pay for our packs, especially since we already have packs, a permanently converted Ecto, and any other gear we need to do events. We ARE in the process of building new packs, but I already have a completed mold, and the packs are under way. We are funding them by ourselves with no outside help. In fact, here is a photo of the mold I created, and the master buck I built that the mold was taken of (after having to remove it from the mold in pieces): ---

**i really wish there could be a community wide stop put on bell ringing, because of absolutely moronic things like this.** i cant count on _\*two hands \*_people that do charity work with a ghostbuster uniform on that isnt a shit for brains. you all represent everyone in a ghostbuster costume, i dont raise money for charity, i dont want to be looked at like a bell ringer instead of “some guy in a costume he has fun in”. **\*\*we are NOT the salvation army. \*\*** things dealing with people that wear this uniform for charity work gets worse and worse. Now it’s kickstarter for packs and fan films to raise money to raise money. **what can we as a community do to end this charity work or put the charity people into a dark corner so the people that do it right can forget about them?** _im serious. this needs to be discussed as a community._ ---

I think if you are going to discuss charity you should look at the 501st model. All costumes have to be movie quality and approved by someone. There are a set of rules for appearances and events. All events have some greater approval before they get done. People aren’t paid to troop, it’s a not for profit group. At the end of the day a hobbie like this pretty expensive and self indulgent. If you can’t afford then you should rethink your involvement. All of us want the best and coolest stuff out there. But a sick kid in the hospital doesn’t know a resin [booster frame](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/booster-frame) from one that was machined. ---

Just saying. Agreed…Despite what many of them think, the 501st is NOT a shining example of what fan groups should be, in fact quite often they are the example of what not to do and how not to behave. (also I’m TK-5893) The way we at the Ga GB do it is we’ll show up at charity based stuff, car shows, toy drives, and the like, but we ourselves NEVER take the donations to give to anybody. We’re not an offical non-profit agency and we don’t pretend to be. We just show up, hang out, and have fun. ---

I dunno, I’m happy doing conventions and the occasional other type of events (baseball games and what not). Collecting money for charities makes me a bit nervous. Plus doing these charity events, while a good cause leads to a question. If the franchises appearance is hyped alot of people, are people coming for the charity or for the Ghostbusters? ---

A charity holding a serious event and suddenly there is a pile of Ghostbusters standing there. ---

My big thing is this: why are you doing charity? Are you doing charity because you are an altruistic individual or are you doing it to validate your choice to dress as a ghostbuster? If you truly want to help your community, it shouldn’t matter how the Hell you are dressed. If you are only doing charity because you’ve seen other groups do it and you need another reason to dress up every weekend and use charity to justify your hobby, maybe its time to re-evaluate the situation. Charity shouldn’t be an excuse, it should be from the heart, no matter how you do it. ---
