I wanted to show you all how i’ve been making test cables.. It’s not brain surgery, anybody who has ever worked retail has practically done this before. lol This is mainly to show its stength and also how easy it is to work with. It is very easy to make one without a rig if you’re not to picky. I did this on the arms of a chair within less then 30 minutes
- Drew out parrallel lines on a a wooden board, a little to wide and not too even. But i’m not being picky right now. I’m working on a great rig design as we speak!
- Clamp the corner ends of the tape, then rolled out a tight layer, adhesive side up. Then proceed to simply push and slide the wires onto the tape with my thumb.
- This really shows the tapes initial stength, it will hold the wires in place very well considering no wires are clamped.. Its not very straight since im doing it by hand. But hey, these cables are being used for weather tests.
- Once finished, Roll the tape over the wires as smooth and even with the lower layer as possible.
- Got out the heat gun, it’s only 2 settings so i used the lowest to avoid burn holes.
- Go over it slowly and even, take your time. This stuff take a little while.
- Flip it over, clamp the corners down, and repeat. Be a little careful, it will be hot at first.
- Flip it over again and repeat the process 1 or 2 more times until the tape melts down clear and shrinks into the spaces and the wires, or until you are personally satisfied. Then just trim off the edges and there you go, you got a ribbon cable!! I’m actually going to go over this one again to get the leftover pockets out and shrink down the spacers.. It’s VERY smooth when its all said and done
