Yeah, I think I may have saw that. The person said they told Elliott Kalan that their dream project had always been a tv show set in the '90s with everyone from the original team, and he responded that they might just want to watch this show…
I’m somewhat confident in the '90s setting, but the full original team being back—I dunno. Maybe if they recast some of them. Tales from '85 did a great deal of recasting, so who knows.
Yeah, from the start when Reitman and Kenan announced it 4 years ago, they said it was “the series will navigate an unexplored era and decade of canon.” The 90s would match more that. The irony is TVG did was set in 1991 in the movie canon was knocked into its own canon. And before that, Extreme was in '97 in the animated canon. Technically, the only unexplored era between the 1980s and 2020s are the 00s I believe.
Is this going to be in the film canon? Or the RGB/EGB canon?
The logo is a bit…weird. I have to assume there is an in-lore reason for it. Like the night shift is particularly spooky/difficult and the cartoonish mooglie doesn’t properly represent the horrors that are encountered. Hence a clawed hand and jagged teeth bursting through the logo.
If this is the film canon, then I wonder if we will see the original team break up, with Egon heading to Summerville. It would also raise the question: Why hire a team to take the night shift if hauntings are already thin?
If this takes place in the RGB/EGB canon, then I wonder if Maurice LaMarche and Frank Welker will return.
I’m also curious to see if a toyline will be created for this show.
It’s strongly believed to be film canon. My first thought also was that it made no sense to hire a new team, but some of the leaks suggest that it takes place prior to them losing the firehouse. Business must still be doing well enough at the time of the series. Though it will be a tight fit, based on the timeline given in Afterlife. Perhaps this will be early 1990.
I’m certainly hoping for more information on the falling out between the guys. I feel it would be a big misstep if that’s not touched upon.
Ya it’d be great if the Series Finale was Egon’s and Ray’s disagreement and then show him leaving or just have Ray go into work one day and find everything gone.
It’d also be cool if they showed how Egon kept tabs on Callie and who her mother is. Just a side thing we see Egon do. Maybe Ray, Winston and Peter knew he had a kid but let him deal with it personally.
We don’t have a time frame of when the episodes started being made overseas nor do we have any voice cast, storylines, plots or subplots otherwise we’d be talking about it.
Y’know it’s great to see the same people from the very first 2019 Afterlife thread still speculating together in here, it’s cool to be back, I’m excited to be part of it!
I like the subtitle. However, I’m not a fan of the logo.
I mentioned in some other threads that I would like to see the live-action movies lean into horror a little more, so I’m pleased to hear they’re seemingly heading in that direction, albeit in a different medium.
So what merchandise are we expecting, or wanting from Ghostbusters Night Shift? Think we’ll get similar treatment to stranger things? Would be kind of fun to get a collectable meal from Md Donalds and some cereal out of it.
