The one that split in half was just one of many ghost toys marketed with the Ghostbusters figures.
But the ‘green ghost’, with bits of food is so blatantly Slimer if there was ever any debate on the subject.

I just mean he isn’t all happy and silly looking. He looks more like his movie counter part which would make sence why its not named Slimer.
Well looking at the “original” RGB promo, with all tan jumpsuits, Slimer looks like he continued his mean streak from the movie, so yeah he was probably wasn’t even named Slimer at that point. Probably Kenner was given stuff based on those promos. Yeah, you’re right, that’d explain why he’s mean on the packaging and the original figure.

Oh yeah, I was thinking it was a Slimer/green ghost figure that split in half… I was worried a toy slipped by me. Which there was, I’ll post pictures later.
Yep! I still have mine. But the sticker is long gone… It was funny, in the toy line it was called the “proton charger,” but obviously it’s a slime blower. And I think that was one of the only toys to come with the GB2 logo, other than ECTO-1A.
i think people called him slimer even when he didnt officially have a name cuz he slimed peter and stuff
“this is where we store all the vapors, entities and slimers that we trap”

Interesting. Never thought of that.
SO i was thinking about this topic last night and i realized something. If you watch, i think, Ghostbusters II, during the credits when it’s showing each individual character, the last one they show is the green ghost and it says “And Slimer.”
You’re right, it does. But I think that was mainly because “Slimer” was already well established from the cartoon series by the time GBII came out… Hiss appearances are far more friendly in GBII compared to GB1, mainly in part to his character in the RGB.
That’s exactly it. When Ghostbusters II came out the cartoon and film showed evidence of borrowing elements from each other… Slimer was a popular character with the kids… and you can’t have a Ghostbusters movie without Slimer, can you?
That’s a Pop will eat itself moment right there.
