i have a unique problem i need to feed the g.b [proton pack](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack) ribbon wire thru the 3/4 wire loom from the gun to the pack …one problem with that in the pin end connector is 1" dose the connector end come apart with out destroying it ? ---

Are you using the GBFans light kit? From my understanding, the pin connector shouldn’t be attached to the [ribbon cable](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/ribbon-cable) when the kit is shipped. However, I recently assembled a light kit for a friend’s thrower, and encountered the very same problem with the connector already attached. I had to essentially break the connector (it’s not meant to be removed, kind of like a zip-tie) and replace it with a new one in order to fit it through the gun body. ---

It comes connected… AJ explains in another thread how to feed it through the [splitless loom](https://www.gbfans.com/shop/34-splitless-wire-loom)… I personally use split loom, so I don’t know from experience… ---

My GBFans [ribbon cables](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/ribbon-cable) came preconnected and I think they are sold that way in the shop? To do mine I gently bent the ribbon cable so the pin connector was at a 90 degree angle. I then tied a few shoelaces together until they were long enough to go through the loom. Then I tied it around the ribbon cable and pin connector at the fold and fed the shoelace down the loom. I got my Mrs to hold the loom straight with me and I then gently pulled the connector through with the end of the shoelaces. I hope this makes sense ---

Usually [ribbon cable](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/ribbon-cable) connectors can be opened by releasing the side tabs, then reinstalled on a fresh section of cable…
