I wanted to get some recommendations on where to stay for megacon. I really want to stay close this year. I am looking at the Double Tree (through the megacon website), but the homewood suites is tempting too. Is there a place you guys regularly stay at?

Any reviews/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

the double tree is not bad and if you can study the roads you can find some backways to the con. Thats what I did last year and avoided most of the traffic, until the group I went with decided to dine on i drive then it was like hours! But yeah its a nice hotel in a great spot for the con and if you dont want to drive they have free shuttles over there to get to the convention center.

Thanks for the tip about the shuttles! We walked a lot further last year.

A couple of us stayed pretty much right next to the Con last year at the Rosen Inn at Point Orlando (used to be the Quality Inn) It wasn’t bad and in walking distance of the con.. so you didnt have to worry about shuttles or parking.

Were staying there again this year.. only $112 a night for Florida Residents 🙂

I forget the name of the place but there’s a hotel directly across the street from the twdouble tree that I stayed in for Star Wars Celebration V that was good and decently priced. And more importantly less than a block away from an AWESOME little dive bar that I went to every night. By the last night of the con (Which I went to bar in full Stormtrooper armor) the owner was coming out and giving us free drinks.

So yeah, if you like to party, that block is FTW.

Also that bar is apparently a hang out spot for employees of Sea World. So you single fellas can stand the chance to get some of that sweet sweet sea world ■■■■.

I don’t know what a whale uses it’s blowhole for, but I can tell you what it isn’t for and then you’ll know why I can’t go to sea world again.

I booked the Rosen inn, thanks for the recomendations!

If you are booking there, you might want to look into this: [http://www.rosenhotels.com/bestRate.asp](http://www.rosenhotels.com/bestRate.asp)

1. check rates at Rosen website

2. find cheaper rates somewhere else (try [Kayak.com](http://Kayak.com))

3. book at the higher priced Rosen site

4. fill out the best rate guarantee form [http://www.rosenhotels.com/bestRateForm.asp](http://www.rosenhotels.com/bestRateForm.asp)

I booked at Rosen for $108 a night, they matched to [hotels.com](http://hotels.com) for $85 and knocked off %10. [Hotels.com](http://Hotels.com) rate has since gone up, but you can still find it cheaper than Rosen at a few places.

This works at any Hilton owned hotel as well (Hampton inn, Homewood suites, etc), except they will match the better price and mail you a $50 check. I have actually been paid to stay at a Hampton inn in Orlando!

**Important safety tip** : check the cancelation policy before you book just incase they wont price match!

[Hotwire.com](http://Hotwire.com) has some good deals going on for that weekend.

Just booked the Peabody Orlando which is right next door the Convention Center for $107/night. It’s the only 4.5 star on the list so it makes it easy to identify.

And it seems like the Rosen Centre Hotel which is close by is $59/night. If you compare the amenities to the list at [betterbidding.com](http://betterbidding.com) you can fairly easily figure out what hotel you are getting.
