I’m getting a little ahead of myself seeing I haven’t bought a shell, frame or motherboard for my first PP build.

BUT I want to ready for what to expect. I keep thinking about the build, picturing what it will be like. I’m wondering how everyone mounts the motherboard to the shell.

I’m also wondering if many builders design their packs so they can get easy access to the underside for upgrades and repairs.

I’d love it if members could share with me pictures or videos of their packs with close ups of the motherboard to the shell. I’d like to see how much of a gap, if any, there should be between the two.

Also are most shells and [motherboards](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/motherboard) compatible? I’m going for a studio creations shell with an aluminum motherboard but haven’t decided from what seller yet.

I’m hoping to start the build by the end of the year.

There is normally some kind of spacer between the two. You have to drill a hole in the middle bar and use the two slots on the base. The BEST way to learn about this stuff is to read as many build threads as you can. Even if it’s not a SC pack build. It will give you an idea of how the packs work.

Also, the search function on the top right hand side is your friend. There have been so many builds that almost any question you have is already set out for you.

Good luck on your build!

Isn’t that a description of how to attach the [motherboard](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/motherboard) to an [ALICE pack frame](https://www.gbfans.com/shop/alice-pack-frame-lc-2)? I thoight op asked about connecting the motherboard to a shell. Unless I’m reading it all wrong.

My bad, there is a brilliant thread on that subject on this forum.

Sure, but after this I want you to try the search function. Ok?

Every question you could possibly ask has multiple threads. There is a crazy amount of knowledge on this site. Enjoy!

Another small bit of advice is to try to keep your build questions inside your build thread and not start multiple threads for every question you may have on your build. I think you are off to a great start, and I think you’ll do great with your build. Just some friendly unsolicited advice to keep things running smoothly for you. The shell is attached to the [motherboard](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/motherboard) using L shaped aluminum brackets. Like Alan said there are several, several different threads on how to go about getting this done.
