Is it just me or is the [Meson Collider](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/games/ghostbusters-the-video-game/equipment/meson-collider) almost a completely different weapon in multiplayer mode. The functions don’t seem to complement each other like they do in story mode, i can’t get the beacon thing happening which makes the secondary function seem useless (it doesn’t seem to do any damage on its own). Is this all in my head am i missing something?

I noticed something about it, but havent looked into it.

I noticed a large orange [shock blast](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/games/ghostbusters-the-video-game/equipment/shock-blast). weird.

It is completely different online, yes. It’ll produce a spherical blast that actually draws in nearby ghosts/animated and deals them damage that way. Not sure exactly why they changed it, but it’s a decent change. Good for use against Candelabras.

The [Meson Collider](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/games/ghostbusters-the-video-game/equipment/meson-collider) in MP is my weapon of choice, the big blast is very devastating at Lvl 3.

The [meson collider](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/games/ghostbusters-the-video-game/equipment/meson-collider) works differently in MP because the functions it serves in SP is not as useful. Having a homing beacon function in MP isn’t as useful when you’re working on a time limit. The explosion is a much more functional tool. The individual pulses are great, you just need to find the proper uses for them. For example, if you’re playing destruction and one of the ghostly relics is high up in the open sky, using the explosion wouldn’t work as well because it’s a bit hard to accurately aim it. But the pulses are pretty much dead on. So hitting the relic with a few pulses will make short work of a relic. If you tried to hit it with an explosion, you could potentially miss and waste 1/3 of your meson ammo.

I just wished that the weapon you select at the start of the multiplayer was the one you get the whole multiplayer mission…

Agreed. There’s more than a few times where It would really help to have 1 weapon and it’s either not avilable from any pick up slots or one of the other players rushes to pick it up and then doesnt use it. :sigh:

Well…when I first started with multiplayer, I had the exact same thought. But after having played for quite some time now, I can understand why they didn’t. The other weapons are so much more powerful/useful than the proton stream that having them with unlimited use would make the games far too easy. For example, if you had four players on survival, each one with one of the four different weapons, then you’d whiz through the game with almost no problem. Tether for ghosts, meson for swarms, and meson and stasis blasts for golems/slime/mallow monsters. And if everyone had unlimited [slime tethers](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/games/ghostbusters-the-video-game/equipment/slime-tether), can you imagine how boring containment would be? It’d go way too fast.

I know that many of the challenges can be a pain in the ass if you don’t have the right powerups when you need them, but after playing a bunch of games with two really awesome guys the other night, I found that if you really just plan out your attacks and powerup usage, it’s a lot easier while still maintaining that challenge.
