Janine Proton Pack

I thought I saw an episode when I was younger when Janine strapped on a proton pack. It seemed like it was in a display case or something. Anyone have info?

That would be from the extreme ghostbusters where Janine had to save Egon and the kids. But Janine also has worn a pack in the real ghostbusters cartoon.

Ah Thanks! I knew she did in the real ghostbusters, but I couldn’t remember if she did in the extreme ghostbusters.

The episode is “A Temporary Insanity” if you need the title.

She also donned the Ghost Vacuum pack in “Slimer’s Sacrifice”

you guys are awesome! Thanks for the replies!

You’re welcome, Goober.

Also, you can see Janine with a Proton Pack towards the end of “Casting the Runes”

Yeah, that was a nice touch of seeing the classic Proton Pack again, but I always thought it odd that when Egon uses it in Darkness At Noon it’s not powerful enough as it once was,yet when Janine uses one in A Temporary Insanity it works well, then again the original packs work well in Back In The Saddle but then when the RGB’s & EGB’s team up they’re back to using the newer EGB style packs, very strange discontinuity, certaintly raises some questions, what do you all think :?:

That’s because the explanation that the old equipment was “underpowered” was just a BS excuse by the series production to introduce the new equipment.

Cheers Kingpin.

Yeah that always bothered me. and the excuse for new equipment felt rushed. I feel that if they just had the trap on hand they would have defeated Achira just fine. It’s not like the proton beams had zero effect.

The staff were going to use radically new equipment but ultimately decided not to move away from the Proton Pack. Since the designs were still around, the director of “Killjoys” sneaked in the Field Projector with Egon at the end of the episode. The Projector wasn’t originally scripted to appear. Another one was Roland’s Ghost Vacuum. It got to appear in “Sonic Youth” (and at the end of the title sequence). Practically, I’ve read the pilot went over so they had to extend it to two episodes. So likely the modified packs subplot was added then as a way to make the time limit for the second episode, as well.

It only bothered me the old one worked on Lilith. Guess she wasn’t as ‘evolved’ as Achira. But them working on the bowling ghost and the Ecto-Clones didn’t bug me since they were on the lower rung in terms of classification and thus not as powerful as a destroyer like Achira.

The new packs are like electric cars. A fad, to fix something that isn’t broken.

If Ed wouldn’t have left the trap in the car they could have defeated Akira, so yeah the reason for the upgrade is dumb. But I like to think that the upgraded packs were done to be quick and dirty, a true retooling and upgrading of the preexisting packs would have taken to long, as appose to building short term replacements. During the time they, were using them Egon slowly rebuilt, repaired, and upgraded all preexisting packs, making them as “strong” as the new packs but without the problem of constantly having to change proton canisters. Also if you are looking for pics of the equipment, just check out my sig.

What’s the title of the EGB episode where RGB and EGB team up?

Hey,that’s not fair,I’m as big a GB fan as anyone on here,I’m sorry I spoke, never meant any harm,I guess I just find it really hard to fit in,forget it,I can’t be bothered with people having a go at me :-x :frowning:

Does anyone remember the original concept for the show? I remember reading in a magazine a good half year or so when it was in it’s working stages still. I faintly remember little things, like the kids having different names, there was two friendly ghosts living at the firehouse now, some of the final finished equipment was altered, and they had two or more types of transportation then the Ecto-1? If anyone remembers this in more detail please share as i’m interested in what changes where completely made.

I recall this page on Spook Central: The original version of EGB and “Attitude Busters” from Ability magazine. The concept was more Janine-centric, it seemed.

Which adds a bit of a fun irony in the comic’s current story arc–Janine leading a new team of Ghostbusters that includes Kylie Griffin. And Erik Burnham has said he’s never even seen EGB  :eyeroll:
