Hi guys, i tried to search for this topic and wasnt able to find anything, i apologize if i am blind and didnt see it. I’ve decided on the jupiter electronics light kit but i was wondering if any of you have ever or if it is possible to modify the light kit. I wanted to add an LED on the gun ear, maybe another LED in the thrower tip and one in the vent. any thoughts? Thanks!

Matt

I have the same kit. It comes with the vent light and it operates off a separate toggle switch. An extra light can be added to the kit as the LEDs are pushed into a conector block. I just wired another led into the connector block. They are excellent value for the money. If you are having sound as well you will need to change the toggle switches supplied with the kit to DPDT switches

I have the same kit. but the vent light IMO is not as accurate as I would like… so I just took apart an LED 4.5v flashlight and soldered the wires to it running from the 4.5 power source to the light assembly. seeing I am using my grounds for all my switches I was able to wire it to the same switch that activates all my lights.

now when I hit the switch the vent lights up nice and bright. I actually think its a little brighter than it was in the movie.

you be [the judge](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/characters/the-judge)… just look at the carpet to see the light bouncing off it!

BTW I have not yet glued it down. so it was not exactly where I wanted it so it wont illuminate the clear dome on top.

I posted this question in the feedback thread thinking I was on this thread so sorry for the repeat. But has does anyone know if you can connect the powercell/cyclotron kit to the main power switch of the gun kit since its on a seperate power supply? Also the kit came with dtdp switches so I should be ok hooking up sound to that same switch also right?

I just got both kits and asked the same question here is the response.

>
> I am pleased to reply that yes there is a way. In fact there is a very simple way. We do not mention it in the instructions. It might or might not be obvious but once you get to look at these and think about it it should become obvious.
>
> First let me explain why there is no switch on the power cell light board. This one ships with the battery strap and you use the battery strap as a disconnect while you figure out how you want to have it wired.
>
> The proton wand board ships with all the lights and all the switches already wired in. As you will soon see the proton wand board also ships with a small bags of extra parts, including one extra toggle switch, so that you have all 3 required toggle switches on your proton wand.
>
> You can wire the power cell to this 3rd toggle switch. Or you can wire the power cell to the same main power switch as the proton wand.
>
> We recently added a terminal block on the power input of the proton wand board, identical to the power input of the power cell board.
>
> If you want to wire the two together, you simply need to remove the battery strap from the power cell board and add two wires from the proton wand power input to the power cell power input. You only need a screwdriver in order to do this. The wire is not normally included but since you asked I threw in two pieces of wire (red and black, 48") to make this as simple as it can be.

Hello,

Is this light kit compatible with the various sound kits that are out?

best bet is too skip jupiter and wait for crix’s light kit, higher quality and plug and play sound and lights

Have the Jupiter electronics wand kit [proton pack](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack) lights from JT24 and wired both together really simple. I also have a replica props sound chip with bread board and wired that to my light kits. Just changed the switches to DPDT switches and the push switch for the firing operation. For the money they are excellent kits.

I just got the pack and wand kit. I was wondering if anybody knew if you could run both light kits of a 12v power supply. I know they come wired for a 9v battery but i tried it with my 12v rechargeable battery that I got for my sound kit and it worked. I just wondered if there would be any long term effects from this. Could the lights burn out faster or anything like that? It would be nice to only have one to change or charge.

I believe his lights are made to run up to 12v, so you should be just fine running them off your battery.

No, he has a voltage regulator on both boards. I’m running both light kits and sound off one battery.

The [cyclotron](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/cyclotron) lights are special though. You can remove them and replace them with something more accurate like I did and they’ll power up to a 14v incandescent light.

Does anyone have any tips on mounting their light kit to a [proton pack](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack)? I’ve figured out the [cyclotron](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/cyclotron) mounting, but I’m at a loss on the [Power cell](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/power-cell) mounting.

I used 2 pieces of wood dowel rod as standoffs and epoxy glued it to the inside of the powercell wall. there are screw holes on the board to use to mount it to the rods. Brass inserts are helpful. I put 2 of those in the end of the rods and used 2 4-40 screws to attach it.

If you go this route, I’d recommend some 30 second epoxy because you’ll never get it to set right otherwise. I’m sure this sounds harder than it actually is.
