Anybody know of a website or place that sells LED message boards for the roof rack at a reasonable price? Ive found some but they are ungodly expensive. Any help would be great.

Supposedly the ones on the Ecto-1A were $20,000 a piece. I think I read that on the internet somewhere, so it must be true.
Originals were custom-made, and any LED sign that is larger than 24 inches will be vastly more expensive than $500 apiece. I have a pair of small BetaBrite Prism signs that I bought from Sams Club in 2008 for $100 each. I haven’t seen them for sale since, but they will pop up on ebay quite often.

They would be good for a modern ecto conversion, but are probably a 10th the size of the Ecto-1A boards.

The $20,000 was what the owner of the Arizona 1A replica paid for his. A quick internet search revealed This site which will give you a vague idea of how much a correct size one would cost for most everyone’s application here. For me and other MM owners, it’d be much more expensive.
Thats about the perfecft size that I would need. Ill have to do some more searching. Im guessing that finding waterproof ones is gonna be a bigger nightmare.
Smaller LED boards are usually meant for indoor use. I’ve tried various means of waterproofing mine, but in the end it’s simper to just disconnect them when they are not in use.
So just disconnecting them works? You leave them on the car in the rain disconnected?

So what are the official dimensions of the ones used in Ecto-1A ? I have an Ecto-1 but it is a Hightop Ambulance and I thought the LED signs from Ecto-1A would be perfect to “disguise” the Hightop…
