Just like the title says I was curious to see how other people’s cables turned out. I think the only other one I saw was Janderson’s so far. I thought I’d be fun to see a few others and how they turned out.

Here’s a snap of mine!

And a closeup shot.

Looks very nice…did you just get yours?

Is this from one of his kits or from the current run?

Thanks! I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, although I would have done it with the white on the outside if I had to do it again. Just to be a little different as Rainbow is the preferred route these days. It actually took me three tries to get it as tight as it is, and it was very difficult to work with, but it couldn’t withstand the wrath of the blow-dryer, lol.

It was from his second run, I had gotten on the list early I believe. I got the cable about a month and a half ago. I just was curious to see how well everyone else’s had turned out. I know mine took some work but I’m happy with how it turned out.

Your vinyl strips look a little cloudy - were they like that, or is it from the coating?

Here’s mine, not fully installed:

Mine actually came like that. Did you use the same type of adhesive as Madeinsocal6?

Did you not fully install yours yet?

What kind of clamp are you using, Carpeteria? The allan screws should be going through the ribbon, and you shouldn’t have the extra space on each side.

When I put those screws through my [ribbon cable](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/ribbon-cable) it separated the wires which made it a little difficult to clamp down. And the tension from twisting it ripped it out of the clamp regardless. I had to use some insanely strong crazy glue to make sure it didn’t get loose.

Mine is all installed now - that’s just an older picture that shows the ribbon a little better. The vinyl strips I got from Socal were clear, and I used the E6000 method.

Kaga - I actually just cut away notches at the bottom so I didn’t have to drill through the wiring - there isn’t much extra spacing, though it could be wider, I suppose. It’s one of AJ’s clamps.

I realized that something was bothering me about the [ribbon cable](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/ribbon-cable). I’m sure I’m probably alone on this, but to me it looks like in most the pictures of it that it has a blueish tint to it where the frosted/clear part of the vinyl is. Could be the lighting, but I personally like to think it does, as a little more color doesn’t hurt. And from most the stills I’ve seen on line it looked that way, most on Ray’s pack in the Sledgewick Hotel.

To fix this on mine, I took some Acrylic Light Blue Paint and watered down my brush, and lightly applied it to the frosted parts of the cable. It ended up giving me exactly the look I was looking for!

not to criticize too much, but isn’t it a little tight? Did you have to use all those cable ties?

I know it’s a little blurry (I had to blow it up slightly)… I always like this one as reference though on the [ribbon cable](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/ribbon-cable).

I was going for the OMNI look. Those cables look like they have some material in them. My cable is beyond rigid, and if I had used all the zip ties it wouldn’t have held like it is. I’ll try and remove the bottom one, but I have a feeling it won’t move, lol.

I thought about trying to mess with it and make it look like that, but its split in so many places I don’t think it’d work.

Well, that’s discouraging. I have the madeinsocal ribbon too. lol.

Looks like you definitely have the Omni look.

Well, you convinced me. I’m gonna try and change it up again. I’ll let you know if there’s anything left, lol.

I’ll for the way it is in the picture, but I have no idea how it’ll turn out. The cable’s are sturdy, that’s the good thing. Unfortunately they just are very difficult to twist, even with heat. My’s split in a bunch of spots and its still hard to twist with high heat. Once its twisted though you can’t really notice.

Alright, I gave it one final attempt aimed at the style in the picture. This is the closest that I could get it to look like it. Tried to get the folds right and everything… Whatcha think?
