I know many of you are building pepakura packs, which is pretty neat (though FAR too tedious for me to ever consider trying).

I came across an article by Make Magazine yesterday on the topic that I thought was worth a read:

[http://blog.makezine.com/2012/11/09/prop-building-with-pepakura-and-papercraft/](http://blog.makezine.com/2012/11/09/prop-building-with-pepakura-and-papercraft/)

Especially interesting was his use of… MUSTARD… to do his weathering. Check it out!

Having not read the article yet, I want to say that I’ve recommended mustard as a tool for weathering several times throughout the forum.

pfft. actually i just looked to make sure, and it looks like my only mention of it is here. i use it so often to weather it feels like i talk about it all the time. i swear i mentioned it in my pep build thread. whups.

i have a few projects coming up that i’ll be weathering with mustard and could do a walk through that actually shows it’s usefulness than what was shown in this article.

I keep having to stop myself from making another pep pack. But it’s REALLY relaxing to do the paper work part.

I can see it now.

Prop builders will be driving around in their Rolls Royces’ and pulling up to each other and asking for Grey Poupon.

That would be really awesome. I was disappointed by how little they talked about the weathering. Would love to see it step by step, or something.

It’s a pretty basic article, I just thought it was worth posting since I know a good deal of people on here were doing it.

I first heard of mustard weathering when looking into making a Boba Fett helmet, and I’ve since used it for all kinds of things.

It’s some good stuff; basically just a cheap liquid mask. Lay down a silver base coat and dab on mustard where you don’t want your top coat to stick, then wipe clean once it’s dry.

Wipe clean with soap…mustard will leave a residue…so if you dont want to deal with it spend cash on masking fluid… this is also something i discovered while looking into building a boba fett. That helmet ended up being a custom mandolorian though. I cant bring myself to use mustard on my bobamaker bucket.

Its cool pep is getting more attention…you can build anything with it

I’m sorry buy I can’t work with mustard…it is my mortal enemy since I was little.
