[It’s about time](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/real-ghostbusters/its-about-time) I got around to this.

Brock machined the round track thingy for me. You can also see how I made all of the heat sink fins, as well as some things I didn’t get around to…

I spent about 3 days just making this box.

After clean-up.

That’s all for now. I’m out of supplies, so… don’t message me asking to buy anything, I’m not ready for that.

It’s so epic that I had to listen to epic orchestra while making it.

Looking great, it clearly shows that the hours of time spent on thinking out and creating a good mold pay off in the final product…

Too many people think it’s just a process of dunking the part in silicone, or rush… So it’s nice to see some very well though out molds…

I take it you are experimenting with rubber stamping for the print details? I never considered that but, with some practice and the right inks you might be able to get some stellar results…

Pink tinted activator in the silicione most likely, almost all silicone itself is white, but depending on the company the color of the activator changes… Some companies sell different colors to indicate different set times or simply a color that makes theirs stand out…

I can’t say I know what brand TC is using but it looks like it could be HSII or HSIII from either Alumilite or Dow Corning, Alumilite just rebrands it, real soft and stretchy stuff, good for undercuts…

Yes, silicone. I bought it from [Smoothon.com](http://Smoothon.com). I’m using their MoldMax 30 product.

Nah. That was the original plan over a year ago when I ordered a stamp of the round things that go next to the LED graph window, but I didn’t get far with that idea. The new plan was to order a stamp with everything in reverse (meaning, when you looked at the stamp straight on, everything was in order, but if you printed with the stamp, the printed material would be backwards), and with that I wanted to make a mold so I could cast the letters and symbols up in resin and then glue them down to the buck. When it came to casting, I would use red resin to fill in the areas where the letters would be red, and white resin where they would be white, then cast the whole thing up. Once painted black, you could just rub sandpaper over the letters to remove the top layer of paint and show the color. I tested this out and it worked great, but at the same time I discovered that it was very difficult to mold and cast, and I didn’t want to have to worry about a bunch of bad casts or even worse, a bad mold.

Killer man… makes attaching those parts that much easier.

Love your work btw…

EDIT: “I bought it from [Smoothon.com](http://Smoothon.com). I’m using their MoldMax 30 product.” Oomoo is great stuff as well.

OOMOO is the one silicone I wouldn’t recommend unless it’s for a small run or you are not looking for a long lasting mold, the 1:1 mix is nice but the silicone is substandard compared to others…

MoldMax on the other end is great stuff…

Haven’t had problems yet with it but thanks for the heads up. Just haven’t been able to get around to getting a vacuum chamber for the other stuff…

Don’t wanna derail TC’s thread tho. 🙂

I don’t have a vacuum chamber either. I should get one, but I don’t really do this that often. I just pour from very high and pray everything comes out okay. Sometimes I put the container holding the silicon on top of something high, making sure it is secure and not going to roll off, then I angle it so it gets a small but steady stream flowing down to my mold box. All of the large air bubbles pop during the fall, and whatever dust sized ones that remain don’t really cause me any trouble.

Yeah that’s what I do with other silicones.

I dig checking out other people’s methods for making mold boxes. Great stuff.
