Hey guys,

I am having a bit of a problem with my [proton pack](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack). I purchased the light and sound kit off of GBfans and it’s been working great until recently. When I turn it on, the power-up sound is very choppy and is the same when powering off. Could this be a problem with the speaker or the kits themselves? I am not a tech savvy person, I would appreciate any advice on which direction to head. Thanks!

- on another note, I am also looking for ideas on how to secure the proton pack onto the ALICE frame. The method I use is not working well and if you guys have any pics on how you attached yours, I would also be grateful to see.

What voltage are you running? I know with mine I was only running 9V and when I would turn the sound up too much it would get choppy too. I fixed it by moving up to 12V. Hope that helps.

how are you currently attaching the pack? I used lag bolts and nylock nuts to secure the mother board to the alice pack

Can you snap a picture of how you are wired from your power source (with the appropriate voltages etc) to the board?

I can explain why I had issues. For one, I had a poor electrical setup, that I changed with soldered wires. If you have a loose connection for power at any point in the loop you may have an intermittent issue.

I’m using just a 9 volt battery.

Likely not enough draw to run both lights and sound. A 9v battery won’t last more than 10 mins (in my tests)

You need 12v bud.
