All this reads to me is that Matty is dumping the line. They’re dumping their stock. ---

yeah I gotta a bad feeling this is the begining of the end for their Ghostbusters line. Unless they’re just clearing out the old stuff to make room for new product. But I doubt that’s the case. ---

Yeah, my even my girfriend’s first thoughts were ‘good bye GB line’ after I told her about the subscription cancellation, and now this sale. She has always wondered why [mattel](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/toys/mattel) has not released all of the major characters of the film before turning into costume changes on the four main boys. With slow sales, the four guys in every getup, there might be signs of interest slowing on the figures, so sales managers have pulled the plug from the whole line.. Hope that is not the case, but who knows… ---

The only way the Ghostbusters line might even have a chance of surviving is if either [Ghostbusters 3](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/ghostbusters-3) or and new Ghostbusters cartoon comes out and I doubt that will happen with either within a year. As for the sale itself, well, I guess I’m finally going to get [Walter Peck](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/characters/walter-peck) for the [Containment unit](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/containment-unit) and I might finally get the Louis Tully/Vinz Clortho figure. The only other thing that I’m really interested in and have been debating about getting since it was originally announced is the Stay Puff Marsh Mellow Man, is he worth the $70? ---

sh\*tty. it was a nice run while it lasted. it’s too bad they werent prepared to invest more into the line, they should’ve known going in that it was going to need more effort put into it then MOTUC, where each figure has essentially the same body sculpt. Im debating on picking up 3 more of the gloved venkmans with streams so I can convert my other busters into gloved figures and that way i’ll have streams too since we will never see an accessories pack… ---

Oh well. The run was fun while it lasted. Glad to have been able to get what I’ve got so far. Hopefully if they end the line they can at least let somebody else who wants it to buy the rights to it. ---

Well, if Hasbro gets it than we’ll probably get 3&3/4 inch figures which means we could get a new Ecto-1, so I’m all for that. A good interim company would be either NECA or Diamond Select, both have good tract records with Entertainment Properties and NECA would probably jump at the chance to do Ghostbusters figures again especially now that Sony has likeness rights with the four main actors. Diamond I can see doing figures based on all the various Ghostbusters media but they’d probably only release a few a year especially considering they are a much smaller company when compared to [Mattel](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/toys/mattel) and Hasbro. A big question would be how long is Mattel’s contract for the rights to produce action figures for Ghostbusters last? Because even if they stop making toys they can conceivably “sit” on the property for the remainder of their contract. ---

My guess is even if they stopped making figures today, they wuld sit it out to see i GB3 was finally greenlit and released. Then they could repurpose all their current molds for mainstream brick n mortar toy lines. [Mattel](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/toys/mattel) is seriously hurting for money, and will do about anything to make it. ---

You know I’ve seen that mentioned a few other boards about [Mattel](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/toys/mattel) having " money problems" something to do in part with the whole “Bratz” lawsuit and some other stuff. Can anyone provide me(or even IM me) a link or the details about that. I keep wondering why Mattel goes after these licenses like Ghostbusters and Back to the Future and then just sits on them. I’ve seen several of their recent big entertainment related lines like Green Lantern, Avatar, Generator Rex, and Toy Story 3(which was the most successful of them all but nowhere near as successful as they probably wanted it to be if my local area is any indication) stall or “die out” at the major retail stores and I wonder how that has effected them over all. ---

There’s no new figures/trap updated on their ghosbusters page but the banner announcing the 17th sale shows the new Ray with [slime blower](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/slime-blower) and the new ghost coming. ---

If they are dumping the line,I hope that we will still get a Courtroom Ray and Egon to finish out the line. I had no idea that [Mattel](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/toys/mattel) was having money troubles, even with the recession it seemed like for the most part they were doing pretty good since every sale day on line had their sever backed up traffic wise for hours. Also everytime I watched a video review of the Ghostbusters products, they rarely ever contained a lot of negative comments.\* If some one else did pick up the line, I would be okay with that provided that they gave the Ghostbusters the same care and attention that they give their other licences. Even if this means a longer wait for new stuff to come out, I would rather have it be that way that than buy something cheaply made. \*Even if the six inch line had some flaws like every figure, except for Peter and Marshmallow Mess Ray lacking gloves or not having good excesseries.
