Mine is mostly made of wood and ended up being only 22 pounds even with speakers and 6 batteries.
In it’s current state, it’s 12 pounds without the Alice Frame and Nutrona Wand. I don’t have a significant amount of weight to add to it. I’m thinking it will be somewhere around 20 pounds when I’m finished.
I’m planning on using an AKER MR2200 for my sound system. It’s a very loud, small and lightweight speaker that a Darth Vader showed me.
Question- When making the spacer, how did you determine how wide the flat pieces are to be? Did you make the top first and the width of the flat sections just followed? That was how I was going to do mine.
Stefan’s plans indicate that they are 16.36 degrees apart and the spacers are 1.547 wide, just thought it odd the plans don’t show how wide the sections are there.

Im looking at doing something like this? Is that hard on you back after an hour or so of wearing? 20+ lbs sounds heavy for hours of use.
First, I drew the circle to the correct diameter. Then, I’m not really sure how I came about it (trial and error maybe) but they came out to about 1 5/8 inches wide.
Of course it’s hard on your back. But the satisfaction of creating wearable art is well worth it
When I did a Norm pack years ago, I did the same-ish. I drew out the inner circle, and then lines out from the center at the correct angles, and where they intersected the circle were my endpoints, give or take.
Looking very good so far. I am planning on following the same style of scratchbuild as you (MDF and PVC/styrene). What kind of adhesive are you using to join the plastic and the MDF? Also, will you be relying solely on adhesive, or will you be using screws for added strength?
I’ve been using “Titebond II Premium Wood Glue” to join all materials. No need for screws, it’s very strong. I do recommend scoring the glued side of your plastic with 80 grit sandpaper to give it some grip.
titebond is good stuff, I use the same when using mdf, I highly recommend it
I got some more work done, and primed the majority of it with some black primer.

Here are some updated shots of my work in progress, I have started working on the bumper which has proven to be the most difficult part. I am pretty happy with how it’s all coming together though. I can’t wait to wear her!
