Yeah, I know logistics that go into this. I just compare when I see something at retail for what it is that’s way more bang for my buck. Let’s use the new Battlecat figure for the new Masters of the Universe film as an example. It’s $20 at Walmart and its features are way more exciting; in scale to the line, articulated, 3x’s the size, etc. This Glow Copter is $50+ extra dollars of my money in comparison. Look, I know these Glow Copters aren’t being produced in the same numbers as battlecat (which also has a movie supporting it), but anymore these companies just seem to be able to slap on the “adult collectible” moniker to something and it’s instantly eligible to make their shareholders more money.
With that said, if this Mondo set does end up being $400+, I just don’t see the point anymore with ancillary offerings. I like them and I wouldn’t mind owning them, but I am also not in love with them. My decision to buy them is solely attributed to one minor gripe and the pending cost. The price will be the determining factor. Hasbro just got us for roughly the same amount, but with a way more impressive offering. I’m talking about the Ecto-1/Ecto-1A Haslab. Where we got 7 figures, a bunch of accessories and the in-scale vehicle that could flip/flop between both versions with lights and sound. I know Mondo and Hasbro are two totally different entities. I’m just saying that $230 a set is already kicking my wallet in the nuts. This is just something I can realistically take a good look at and go “Nope” to. I’m not to piss on anyone’s parade who wants these either. I’m just saying I am feeling a bit ripped off lately. I guess maybe that’s just a side effect of everything being seemingly outside of my budget anymore.
I’ll add this though, it would be nice if they could offer us the ghost companions as separate offerings. I mean they’re already tooled and produced, so why not offer them up for people that can’t go balls-to-the-wall on the full sets? It just seems like they could make a little extra money off the guy who can’t do $200+. The price point already excludes so many people that would love to have some of this stuff.
