19 DOLLAR SURCHARGE at checkout for tarrifs. NOT happy about that, not so much because its necessary…19 dollars isnt as bad as i thought it would be…but BECAUSE THEY DONT ADD IT TO THE LISTED PRICE…
The two pack figure is listed at 202 dollars. 202 +19= 221 dollars. Simple math. Just show the 221 dollars as the base price then you add tax…so it ran me $240.34 with tax for the two pack. 10 dollars cheeper then i was thinking it would be in total.
I just dont get why they spring the tarrif charge on you like that. Are they trying to make a political statement? cause thats how it comes off. Just make the price 221 as listed. Its easer to budget for impulse buyers and i dont feel as mislead at checkout!
And I also got the How to Train Your Dragon 2025 soundtrack, which Mondo seems to have as an exclusive (though I had to order them separately, as trying to order them together massively increased the shipping cost for both to $70 :angryvigo:
Winston’s shipping was $40, and the shipping for the CD set on its own would’ve been $14.)
I’m glad the surcharge wasn’t horrendously expensive… Though it definitely wasn’t necessary.
We’ve known about the tariff increase for a while now… It wasn’t sprung on us, and it certainly wasn’t by Mondo.
Donald Trump made the decision to impose tariffs on every other country in the world over imported products, reportedly as an effort to bring costs down on products by trying to encourage manufacturing to go to/return to the United States as part of his “America First” agenda. Mondo (like many other companies) had no choice but to raise the price of the figures for American customers to cover the cost of the tax created by the tariffs, they’re piggie in the middle between the Trump administration and their overseas manufacturers (likely China).
The price increase isn’t Mondo making some kind of political statement, it’s economic sabre-rattling by Donald Trump and his administration.
It wasn’t too bad of a surcharge (I paid $240 as well; Oof!). Didn’t we get free shipping the last two times though? I remember for Peter we had received a refund for the shipping or am I remembering it wrong?
Mondo’s Senior Creative Director of Collectibles did say that all domestic orders would receive free shipping. Maybe they’ve had to cut that offer because of the tariff business?
Yeah, you’re right. I had clicked domestic shipping and when I saw the total, I just assumed the extra $9 was the shipping but it was sales tax. I had confused that with paying for shipping. The tariff threw it off for me too.
Snagged mine. Cannot wait to have Ray pre-ordered. In spite of lots of the whinging and complaints, I am still so excited to get these in hand. From the outside they look picture perfect.
Agreed. I hope that with Ray’s release (and Janine’s if the line is successful enough) Mondo will also include more neat little accessories like the copy of Tobin’s and Winston’s half of the Collector’s key.
Just to be clear i totally agree with you there on the trump tariff thing. Please dont mistake me as supporting that.
My whining is about just include it in the price upfront because simple jack minded me thought wow ok maybe there wont be a tariff charge afterall because they are still listing it as the normal price but thats on me!
I so cant wait to get these figures though. I now have all 3 pre ordered and of course im going to get Ray and Janine when available…and they got to put out a firehouse or Ecto 1 or Mr Stay Puff. Please do Mono..please!
Don’t say that. I don’t want, nor need another Ecto-1 (I have over 10 of them already). The only way i’d buy it is if it were in scale, modeled after how it looks in the cartoon and has Ecto-3 (the unicycle w/ sidecar) that pop’s out of the fender. The price of these figures are already in the stupid rich-guy realm and they definitely punch my wallet in the nuts when I plop down $240 (man…) for one. It would have to be under $500 for me to be able to bite and even that’s crazy. The Haslab Ecto-1 was a real kick in the wallet for me and at some point, I just need to walk away from having to keep buying action figures altogether. A Stay Puft would be cool as long as if it were locked in at a hundred dollar price point. I would love to see something like an Ecto-2 or even the Containment Unit (but honestly I can 3D print something like that). The deluxe boxes not being able to stack and make the firehouse is a missed opportunity by Mondo (according to the recent Geek Dad Life review) and producing a real one would be astronomical in price.
If they dropped a Stay Puft with a couple more intro ghosts for like… $300-400. Or an RGB accurate Ecto with Killawatt possession swap out pieces for $500… we’d still be all in, right?
The deluxe boxes not stacking is disappointing cos they only needed to change the front graphic really…
Pretty neat the timed edition has a Tobin’s Spirit Guide accessory and the half of the key from The Brooklyn Triangle. Winston having the Tobin may seem random but in its 3rd appearance in RGB, Winston is reading it while they strategize about Boogieman in the Firehouse.
Finish the figure line with Ray and Janine. Thats a given. Figure if we Get Ray and Janine within a year from now, id be happy with that lineup.
Then by Christmas (so pre orders would go out for Ghostbusters day 2026 or Comic Con 2026) Announce a Animated Ecto-1. Retail 500 dollars or so. Can fit all 4 figures into it, holds the packs, even has a fold out chopper Ecto-2 like in one of the episodes.
Maybe even give us a half scale Stay Puft along the way. Then the following year, a full blown firehouse for under 800 dollars…done in the style of a bigger more detailed version of the classic Kenner firehouse (which i still dont get why they dont re release)…i think that would sell like crazy.
So those who have bought these. Are you displaying them?
I was going to leave mint in box, but they’re wrapped in paper… this makes me worried about preservation in general… doesn’t seem like leaving in box would be safe for preserving them either so may as well display…
