Mondo Teases New Real Ghostbusters Action Figures

At YHS’s event, it was revealed Mondo’s doing a Citizen Ghost 4 pack.

I’m going to keep telling myself I don’t need those… riiiiiiiiight up until I hit the purchase button.

YAY!

(Thinks of the likely price) And ouch!

The most natural sequence of thoughts, heh.

Oof, yeah, I’m thinking $400-500…

I mean, I would probably inch closer to a yes if you can swap the heads and hands out if you want the RGB to be in their flashback look. Not sure with the hands, probably have to use the gloves to hide the green. Looks like you can… ugh… get this or get parts to mod my '84 pack… oh these two had to come out in the same year. #firstworldproblems

And posted here for ease of access:

They look good, pending price point.

Assuming $404.

But also not sure where I’d display them and in some sense relieved, because like the Louis set these aren’t must-buys for me but rather nice-to-have. Knowing these are taking a release slot makes me more likely to throw down on Louis.

Alex Brewer did ask fans what ghosts they’d like to see for future figures so I’m also saving on the basis there will be some too good to be true figures coming in the “second wave” of this line. As well as an Ecto and Stay Puft.

I like em, but i might pass on these. If they put out a louis and Janine in Uniform…HELL YES… These…i like, dont get me wrong, but…like desk Janine and Variant Samhain…i dont feel like i must have these ya know. Depends on the price too…400 even for the set, maybe but idk. Im oddly happy with the 4 2 packs i got of the whole crew. I dont NEED them ya know.

I’m in for these. Was obsessed with CG as a kid and still am - always get the figures/variants when they pop up, although I never did manage to get the Matty Mego-style SDCC variant one back in the day.

Lord but Mondo are ruining me.

I’m assuming $404 as well. Which.. I know that’s what I already paid but I didn’t have to do it for 4 figs at once.

I love that it can be the regular guys in tan jumpsuits though. If their ‘normal’ head-sculpts are unique I’ll jump at it because that adds value to my existing figures.

I hate to say it, but i’m just not in love with these and once I know the pricepoint (if it really is anywhere near $400), this will be the first hard pass for me from the line. The pack-in ghosts are awesome and are really the only selling point to me. I can’t justify another $100 figure that’s a slightly retooled variant. The translucent hands also really bug me. They look blocky and ugly and take me out of it. Plus, that Hasbro Glow Copter is going to be $70?!? That to me is outrageous. That would be $20 retail if anything. Today should really be an exciting day but it just feels like we’re being ripped off.

$20 retail in 1991 (or if it was a big box mart-level release), but it’s a smaller production run in 2026, with tariffs, increased oil prices, tooling costs and niche collectibility to be factored in. :whatever:

Yeah, I know logistics that go into this. I just compare when I see something at retail for what it is that’s way more bang for my buck. Let’s use the new Battlecat figure for the new Masters of the Universe film as an example. It’s $20 at Walmart and its features are way more exciting; in scale to the line, articulated, 3x’s the size, etc. This Glow Copter is $50+ extra dollars of my money in comparison. Look, I know these Glow Copters aren’t being produced in the same numbers as battlecat (which also has a movie supporting it), but anymore these companies just seem to be able to slap on the “adult collectible” moniker to something and it’s instantly eligible to make their shareholders more money.

With that said, if this Mondo set does end up being $400+, I just don’t see the point anymore with ancillary offerings. I like them and I wouldn’t mind owning them, but I am also not in love with them. My decision to buy them is solely attributed to one minor gripe and the pending cost. The price will be the determining factor. Hasbro just got us for roughly the same amount, but with a way more impressive offering. I’m talking about the Ecto-1/Ecto-1A Haslab. Where we got 7 figures, a bunch of accessories and the in-scale vehicle that could flip/flop between both versions with lights and sound. I know Mondo and Hasbro are two totally different entities. I’m just saying that $230 a set is already kicking my wallet in the nuts. This is just something I can realistically take a good look at and go “Nope” to. I’m not to piss on anyone’s parade who wants these either. I’m just saying I am feeling a bit ripped off lately. I guess maybe that’s just a side effect of everything being seemingly outside of my budget anymore.

I’ll add this though, it would be nice if they could offer us the ghost companions as separate offerings. I mean they’re already tooled and produced, so why not offer them up for people that can’t go balls-to-the-wall on the full sets? It just seems like they could make a little extra money off the guy who can’t do $200+. The price point already excludes so many people that would love to have some of this stuff.

I presume you mean the mini ghosts like Drool, Charles Foster Hearse, the Halloween goblins rather than the big bads?

I can see Mondo potentially releasing a “minion” box set of several of the smaller ghosts… It wouldn’t require any extra tooling on their part, just a reuse of the existing molds.

I honestly feel the same way mech wise. All this is is a re paint with new “Mini” Ghosts. Fine, ok im not bitching about that, i dont have to buy it, but this isnt a entirly new set of figures and it does fit what they are supposed to be, but this isnt a whole new line here. Doesnt have to be. But if its over 500 dollars…thats a bit much.

Hasbro is even worse right now. No word of another Haslab campaign despite the fact ALL the ghostbusters ones have been wildly sucessful. Not a single one managed to not pass its funding goals. We dident get one last year. We got our Ectos that we ordered THE YEAR BEFORE!

So i dont know if they are going to announce one at comic con or not. Also, the kenner classic line…theres still a ton of figures they could re release and would it be so friggen hard to put out the firehouse. Even at 100 dollars, that would be an instant profit for them! It would cost them what, maybe 30-40 bucks TOPS to produce them and sell at double the cost of manufacturing and make a healthy profit.

people can 3d print their own BETTER firehouses at home. Jason from Ghostbusters news did that. His firehouse he got from files sold online is 5 times the size of the classic one, and it cost him what, the cost of a 3d printer and a few spools of plastic?

What pisses me off, if im just being honest here, is the lack of effort. The new animated show, i dont have enough info on it one way or another so i cant judge. I dont know when in 2027 its coming out, i have no idea when ill see a trailer, i just know a name and logo.

The merch is what feels lazy to me. Modo, you could do so much more and i sincerly hope they do. HASBRO is just being lazy right now. They have been since frozen empire came out!

Wheres the frozen empire line of plasma figures. Wheres Ray with the Ecto Chopper? Wheres the new team? Wheres garry and cally in uniform? Wheres Phoebe with Egons modified proton pack? wheres the build a garakka figure. Wheres any number of COUNTLESS The Real Ghostbusters lines that beyond the ghost are all the same sculpt just with different packs and accessories. I mean for god sakes its the 40th anniversary of the show and we are getting a glowing louis figure? THATS IT?

it feels lazy guys. I mean common. Sorry but not sorry. Im not expecting 100 new figures, but hasbro of all people you could do more then just “Oh heres what we allready announced allready”

It isn’t a straight repaint. In addition to the new head sculpts for the ghostly versions of the Ghostbusters, the figures come with human alternate heads (which include removable neck sections that aren’t present on the previously-release figures).

As more media is being uploaded from the Ghostbusters Day events, I came across an unveiling video from the YHSP event:

As I suspect it may’ve been lost amid the reaction to the ghost clone figures, one of the three ghost accessories is Slug, from Ghosts ‘R’ Us, suggesting Snarg and Zonk will likely feature in a future unrevealed release.

Also, did I hear right that the four-pack would be an SDCC exclusive?

I think Ecto Glow Copter Louis, Citizen Ghost 4-Pack are decent offerings this year, plus all of the Mondo figures, and the Visual History last year. Real Ghostbusters fans have been eating well.

Fans don’t have an endless supply of money, they can’t drop all this stuff at once. If the Citizen Ghost pack was $202 like the other packs then it’d be hard to refuse… but it’s clearly in the contract they can only price at $100 per figure. Hard to say what stipulations and loopholes there might be, as smaller ghosts/figures seem unaffected, and some of the alternate parts are significant.

I would’ve liked a re-release of further Kenner waves and / or a new Blu Ray release or upscale of the series to replace the Time box set. But that seems unlikely.

Incidentally, the Night Shift key logo art looks superb.

We have gotten some good stuff dont get me wrong, but lets be honest here, the momentum is slowling down a bit. Especially from Hasbro…Mondo hit it out of the park with The Real Ghostbusters line so far, and Hasbro…we got delayed stuff, sure…but wheres the new stuff. Weres my damn firehouse Hasbro. Wheres the next Haslab Campaign. Have they said anything on this at all or am i just being selfish and impatient and even somewhat greedy? I dont think i feel entitled. Im honestly grateful. BUT…Entitlement means im owed something, and thats not what this is. We are paying for this stuff! (Yes im using the line peter said to Janine). Like, we are still willing to pay, but you still have to put stuff out to buy consistently.

Oh… if it’s a SDCC exclusive (even if they sell some online after) then I probably won’t bother. But that does make sense.

I figured they would have done these as two-packs for a regular release. Maybe they still will.

Pure speculation but I think it’ll be available online and at SDCC for the weekend only like the Sam Hain Timed Edition.

Yes, in Popular Tripe’s video a few posts up, Alex Brewer confirmed it is a SDCC exclusive.

Agree, it being a timed pre-order for the 3 or 4 days of SDCC makes the most sense. These are probably a very limited run so with the price/cost of producing them factored in, they don’t shoot themselves in the foot making too many.
