It took me roughly 2 months to print this plastic behemoth and it’s not just a few spools of filament. I can’t give an exact dollar amount on how much I spent on filament to make this same firehouse, but I am going to say it was somewhere in the $300-$500 range. I used 6 spools of just the marble color alone. Also, there is the cost of the printer itself. I don’t know exactly which model the Ghostbusters News guy uses, but he has a Bambu Labs printer and just a quick glance at the cost of the possible model he featured in his video is anywhere from $800 to $2.1k. Also, you’ll be doing a lot of glueing too and if you’ve seen how much of a rip-off retail glue is these days; $9 for a tiny bottle filled 1/3 of the way full will kick your wallet in the nuts as well. The end result of Ghostbusters Gear’s (Patreon) firehouse is amazing, but I wouldn’t go anywhere near calling it cheap to print.
Granted, I added some things that weren’t included in the original files and made extra modifications, but these didn’t add much into the final cost of the original files. If a company like Mondo is charging $400 for an injection molded plastic figure set seems outrageous, a retail release of a playset like this would be ludicrous. Thankfully we have this option, but I will say that it was expensive to produce. Plus, it’s still something that’s completely out of the realm of possibility for most people. There were also times where I wanted to throw the whole project out the window too, because 3D printing is still not an exact science.

I’ve been 3D printing for years now and, while yes, some things can be made cheaper than retail, people who don’t know the ins and outs just assume these suckers are replicators and call me a liar when I tell them that a full scale, 3D printed containment unit will cost over $600 to do even after I give them the math and cost breakdowns.
I stand corrected. But still…for HASBRO to do this, compared to the complex sets they put out for star wars the firehouse should be easy for them and much cheeper.
Same here. I assume they just missed the connecting transport to get them to the DHL facility at Heathrow and so are on-hold until the next one is ready to load-up.
Eh… slightly odd choice to have the marshmallow (which I don’t think looks great and should be a paint app although I know that means less flexibility in posing etc) glow along with the vapour, but not the busters themselves. Although I’m not sure how easy/possible it is to produce translucent glow in the dark plastic.
I can live with the limited amount of glow they will have. In a perfect world the ghost clones would have internal lighting to allow them to really shine, but that would be very damn difficult in our reality.
Need some feedback. I got the Ray figure a few weeks back. There was an issue with it, so I contacted Mondo a little over a week ago. I got the autogenerated message asking for pictures which I sent. Haven’t heard anything since. I am sure they are busy, but I wasn’t sure how long I go before trying to touch base again.
In the past, they have been excellent at responding, so the long delay is a bit surprising.
When I had my experience with their customer service, my first message to them was around December 16th, and the final resolution was on December 18th.
A week is surprising, though maybe some of their customer service people might be away for booked summer leave?
I also had a paint issue with my Ray figure. I emailed them on 5/7 and also got the auto generated email saying it would take 3-4 business days for a response. I got the replacement part order confirmation and shipping notification today on 6/11. I had read they were backed up on customer service emails and other people had waited over a month for a resolution just like I did. They will get to you….. very slowly. Try and be patient! I know I struggled with the slow response and started to lose hope that they would take care of me.
So, speculation for SDCC? We know the Citizen Ghost four pack is an exclusive, and personally I expect to be priced out of it. Louis and Grundel will likely be showcased for release later in the Summer (and I’m now 100% in for Louis), and then maybe a standalone Boogeyman variant for Halloween weekend? I wonder if they’ll reveal any more of the future line - I assume a suited Janine & ghost will come next. But probably not until early 2027.
A suited up Janine and ghost was my first thought. I’m still curious if they’d reissue a Boogieman or do a slight variant like with Samhain since Boogieman has those 2 color variations in Robo Buster and Jailbusters (I think a 3rd in the NOW comics).
Hmm, I don’t know if they stop doing humans for awhile but they have to think just ghosts will be harder sells. But in terms of ghosts, they must plan to do 1 big a year like they know they gotta do Stay Puft but what the price point will be. Maybe they’ll do GBs in their civies. Even just doing the supporting cast might be a hard sell to Mondo.
I don’t know what sway Craig YHS has but I feel like he’d be pushing for People Busters behind the scenes. However the expense of those as a single pack, and that individually they’d take up an entire year to put out (and they aren’t as popular as season one ghosts that don’t yet have figures) makes them less likely imo.
I wonder if they do solo ghost packs at around the Janine pricepoint, or do solo ghosts and make the Ghostbuster outfit variant the timed exclusive. Eg. baseball Winston with the Umpire.
