Hey guys(and gals), I have been lurking for about a year now pulling together my base GB1 suit and getting ready to dive into a pack build. I recently started acquiring parts and I am closing in on the start of my GB 1 [Proton Pack](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack). I am hoping to finish the pack first before starting the wand. With a new job and three kids at home, it might take me a while. As long as I have it done in time for C2E2 next year, I’ll be happy. Awesome collection. I hear you about the time to build. Since you have a shell and aren’t starting from scratch, if you can devote 1-2 hours a night after the little ones/wife go to bed you should have this done in no time. ---

If your doing a GB1 pack you should consider swapping out that kidney pad, the one you’re using looks like an LC2 pad to me. ---

All of the straps on the A.L.I.C.E. Pack will need replacing with LC-1 straps, not just the Kidney pad. ---

shoulders are LC1 the kidney pad and belt aren’t. looks like you are off to a great start though 😃 ---

My mistake, the shoulder straps are the right type (I didn’t spot the extra length of material above the quick-release on the right-hand shoulder strap). But both the belt and Kidney Pad are incorrect. ---

Good luck Eric… looks like off to a good start. What shell did you go with? I think I have made up my mind but was curious what way you went. I am going the same route you recommended, [flight suit](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/uniform) and other uniform parts already on the way for the “packless buster”. Will build the pack over the winter and have it ready to roll by MCCC. ---

Thanks David! I went with the GBFans store pack and [motherboard](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/motherboard). It’s a great shell at a great price. I hope mines good to go by MCCC next year too. Even better if it’s ready by C2E2.
