My 1st particle thrower - For under $25!

Now - this, as stated before, is my first particle thrower prop I’ve ever made. You needn’t really tell me what’s wrong about it, because I’ve got an abundance of pictures already that show me the differences. However, for a better alternative to that lame “blow-up” proton pack..which has an even more lame particle thrower, these pictures are a testament to the idea that someone can make one that looks close, for a fairly cheap price. It’s not quite finished - still looking for something to use for grips, the clear nozzle for the end, the red wire for the nozzle area, a resistor for the front and some decals for detail. I’ll list what I used, incase anyone wants to build one of these for themselves, just to have a neat toy to build on and adjust later.

Items used:

Dowel rod from WalMart - $2.50

(2) Electrical housing boxes from Lowes - Around $2.00/per box

Lid for electrical box - Around $1

3 Pack of blue L.E.D.'s (They were all out of red!) from Advance Auto Parts- $8.00

Screws and L-bracket for the button (button, as well as battery, included with LEDs) from Lowes - $2.00

The other items I had around the house:

(2) Film canisters

Silver accent ring from an old shift knob

Grey color adhesive bumper dots

Clear hose

Any questions or comments, lemme know! Like I said, still workin’ on it! Sorry for the lame quality of the pics, I had to use my phone!

Aside from the clear tubing , I think it looks great…I dont know what it is about clear tubing , but I just dont like it lol

that’s an awesome thrower!!! Good work there!

I like it man! That’s some good custom work. Did you already build the pack to go with it?

Thanks guys! I’ve already added a few more details like knobs and such - I need to buy some of that sticker paper for your printer, and a new ink cartridge so I can make my decals for it.

I haven’t built my pack yet - but I’m shooting for something along the lines of the “Dollar Store Proton Pack.” I couldn’t find the right items there when I went last night..so I’m just going to continue raiding home improvement stores until I find what I’m looking for. I already know auto parts stores are great for LEDs, but anybody have any ideas for cycling lights for the cyclotron and the blue box on the upper left side of the pack?

Also - still haven’t been able to find anything aside from possibly using the foam grips from an ice scraper for the thrower. Any ideas for grips? I don’t mind custom work, but I’d rather not have to make these from scratch..

Thanks again for your support guys! It means a lot!

I’ve found parts of fuel injector cleaner bottles work , they have the gip part on the bottle

This just in - the clear tube is awesome for Halloween! You can ad a small glow stick in it at night and it looks sweet! Keep that in mind for trick or treating..? Just thought I’d let you know.. And I just won first prize at my Apt Halloween party for best adult costume!!! WOOOOOOHOOOOO!
