I just read this whole build thread and WOW, that looks amazing! Did you build that Buck/ mold for only one shell or did you get other shells out of it?

Thanks dude, glad ya like it.

No i actually made it for only 2 moulds as my mate also wanted one, but since posting this i’ve been asked by 2 or 3 others to pull shells for them.

You know the broken fins on the heatsink would resemble the Sony lobby GB2 pack if you didn’t fix it. Would have been cool either way imo.

Great build!

This is a fantastic looking build, but I have to ask: If you’re doing a GB1 style [proton pack](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack), why did you curve over the heat sink fins?

It’s Nick-a-tron’s kit im using to build this so he didn’t have accurate wavy fins at the time, but im gonna get 1 from him soon and replace it.

xtrmn8r17…thanks dude, glad ya like it. You should get stuck in and build that bad boy, it’s sooooooo much fun!!

if youre going to be painting things to simulate bare metal like the [gun knobs](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/gun-knobs), i recommend an aluminum metalizer paint like Model Masters paint or similar. it looks much better than just using silver paint because you can use a soft cloth to buff it to a nice metal shine when it dries.

Also wen u said u were upset about the fins on the heatsink breaking, expect that! My guns mostly aluminum but I have a resin body cuz I cudnt afford the aluminum body at the time; those ribs r going to break off sooner or later. Mine are all busted up n i was all upset at first, but now i feel like it adds to the look of my pack, all beat up n shit like its seen alotta action. 😛

My mate JT finished building my [Proton Pack](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack) light kit so thought i’d update you all on this.

Basically I found a wiring diagram of how to build it and JT ordered everything and built it for a whole heap cheaper than what i would pay for a ready made kit. Here’s a pic of it working below.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF6777.jpg)

At the minute it’s just working on a 9V battery, but when i have the pack finished im hoping to have both the Pack and Gun light kits running off a 12V CCTV Rechargable battery, but in order to reserve battery life we will be fittin a Transister or too to make the circuit only take 9V from the battery, thus extending the amount of time i can run everything before the next charge.

For the [Cyclotron](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/cyclotron) lights i bought 4 small torches from ASDA and glued the LED’s to the reflectors of the torches. This helps to brighten the output of the already super bright LED.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF6779.jpg)

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF6781.jpg)

Once that was done, we hot glued them into the pack. For the Powercell lights i took a scrap piece of plastic, drilled holes in it at even spacing and pushed the LED’s through the holes. This was then also Hot Glued in place and here’s the final result in this short video.

Ok, time for another update. The pack is now finished…thank you and goodnight.

What’s that?? Oh you want pictures and an explanation and all that jazz?? Oh alrite then…here goes.

Well next up I glued the front barrel into place, screwed the Banjo’s on and begin fitting all the switches and light caps as seen below.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7071.jpg)

You can see here i have installed the wires for the switch hat will play the Ghostbusters theme and the LED.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7072.jpg)

In the pics below u can see i’ve fitted all the light caps, some of the dry-rub transfers, the hose barbs, some of the knobs the Intensify button and the activate switch.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7083.jpg)

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7085.jpg)

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7089.jpg)

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7094.jpg)

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7095.jpg)

For the hose barbs u can see i’ve used 2 more of the brass inserts that i used on the gun box and banjos at the front of the barrel.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7093.jpg)

You can see below that the wireing had already become a rather large time consumer for myself and JT’s dad. Intensify button and Activate switch both wired up.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7092.jpg)

The more i looked at it and toyed with it, the more i hated the 1 screw idea for the Rear Instrument box..soooo, i decided to add another screw to stop it twisting and turning with the slightest wee knock.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7096.jpg)

</div>

A few pics of where we’re up to now before the next bit.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7097.jpg)

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7098.jpg)

So next i glued the Vent light into the gun, using the same method as the [Cyclotron](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/cyclotron) lights i surrounded it in a torch reflector.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7099.jpg)

Once the electronics had been completely built, tested, changed around half a dozen times, repaired and re-repaired it was time to get them fitted.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7101.jpg)

In the photo below u can see how i have arranged everything inside the pack.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7107.jpg)

With that done, i took apart an old Playstation 2 controller solely for the vibrating motor, so that when u hit the Intensify button it would give the sense that the gun was vibrating which have to say is rather effective. I attached it to the bottom door of the Gun Box as this seemed to be the most stable place for it.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF8000.jpg)

Red wire added to the banjos at the front of the barrel

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7104.jpg)

Top knob added and the 1,2,3 dry-rub transfers stuck on. You can also see below that when i tried to add the [Bar Graph](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/bar-graph) lights dry-rub transfer that i royaly screwed it up, but never fear…i know a guy who can get me another, so i’ll be replacing this atrocity very soon.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7139.jpg)

You can also see the [green tubing](https://www.gbfans.com/shop/14-tubing-green) added to the hose barbs and the other two switches which activate the gun lights and vent light.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF7108.jpg)

</div>

So with the gun assembled, lights fitted and the sound connected up…all that was left to do was attach the hose, weather it up to match the pack and add the [Slo-Blo](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/slo-blo) and he last remaining Danger sticker.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF0458.jpg)

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF0463.jpg)

A few shots of it attached to the pack

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF0464.jpg)

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF0467.jpg)

And here u can see the holes drilled to allow for the sound from my speakers, the MP3 player i have connected to it and also the kill switch i added into the design to stop the battery being constantly drained by the Amplifier.

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF0469.jpg)

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/warrenzo/Ghostbusters) Proton Pack\_DSCF0470.jpg)

Well that’s it folks, the pack is complete and im sickeningly in love with it haha!! I’m so pleased how it turned out. It’s been a long 9 months in the making, but i believe it has all been worth the hard work put into it. Once i replace the [Bar Graph](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/bar-graph) dry-rub transfer i will video the pack working and upload it here for you all to see. I hope you have enjoyed this build thread and that it helps you with your own build.

Looking good Warren, can’t wait to see that beast in person. 🙂 How does it weight, with all the gear crammed into it for the sound effects? Are you planning on putting a pannel onto the bottom of the [trigger box](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/trigger-box)?

I had similar trouble with the trigger box wobbling and the dry rub by the bargraph, yours turned out far better than mine:

Fifth circle is missing, and fourth is broken.

What panel do ya mean mate?

It weighs a fair wee bit to be honest, im gonna weigh myself with it on and find out for deffinate soon.

It’s connected to the wee board within the gun which is gettin the full 12volts. That wee board is then wired back to the bigger board within the pack…not really sure of the ins and out of it to be honest as i know nothing about electronics. I left all that bit up to y mates dad.
