Hey Everyone!

This is my first post, but I assure you I have lurked and admired for many years.

Thanks to all of the excellent work done by you guys, in recent months I felt like I was ready to take on the challenge of building a pack. I respect the hell out of anyone who is capable of assembling a pack, whether it be as close to screen accurate as is humanly possible, or if it is a quick build for halloween!

I decided that I would try my hand at vacuum forming packs.

I know that this was the long way around, but I felt like it was a good way to really challenge myself and learn a lot along the way.

My goal here is to have fun, occupy myself outside of work, and really just learn a few things.

These two packs (yeah, two!) are not going to be near as screen accurate as many of you have achieved, but I am okay with that.

Anyhow, Enjoy the photos of what I have thus far, and thank you for all of your work guys!

Looks like a good start. Don’t get to caught up on accuracy. While it is nice, it isn’t everything. Make sure to make this a fun experience for yourself.

the only scratch built pack i have done was my RGB pack and that was a blast. Took almost every weekend for over 4 months to get it finished but it was worth the effort. You get more appreciation when you take your time and enjoy your build. Cant wait to see how this turns out.

Hey Everyone,

Been plugging away at my pack the past few months on and off. Work has been hectic!

Got some new resin parts and started the thrower. Gotta wait till spring to paint. But will spring ever come to new england this year???

Looks like an awesome start!

Like others have said, don’t worry about what you are working with. For a vaccuformed pack that looks awesome. Vaccuforming is a great way to cut down on weight, too. At my last convention our group “sold” chances to wear a pack in front of Vigo (100% of the proceeds went to charity) and one of our guys has the SC vaccuformed shell and that is what we put on folks. With the Matty gun it weighs only about 8 to 10 lbs, whereas my pack with fiberglass shell weighs approximately 4 times that much, which would have killed us to put onto and take off of people all weekend long. I can honestly say I never fully appreciated the vacuuformed shell until that weekend.

Looking forward to seeing more progress on this!
