New trap kit coming soon!

right, first off a big HELLO to everyone here from me. i may be new to this forum but have been a loooooong time fan of ghostbusters and prop building. been working on lots of “Aliens” marine stuff last few months but new year, new project!

I’ve always wanted to build a ghostbusters trap so thought that this time, instead of just building a one off and keeping it for myself, i would cast it in resin and sell a small run in kit form. so basically, iv’e just got done building the very rough mock up out of card and plastic card etc to get the sizing and proportions right. think it turned out good so now i’ll be moving on to the actual master copy then once thats done and im happy with it ill make the moulds and cast it all. anyway, here are some pics of the ROUGH mock up for now, and i will keep you all up to date with it’s progress. if you think you would be interested just let me know so i can get a rough idea of how many i will have to cast.

thanks for looking!

cool! looks good.

welcome to the board. your trap looks good.

reminds me of the things you see in the theater to promote a movie. If they had this in a theater to promote ghostbusters III, it would definately grow legs and walk out the door.

PHEW! been working hard on the master for the last few days. good news is that i was able to order a load of high quality resin at a low price, so that means that i wont have to charge too much per kit! here is a little teaser pic of how that master is going so far. hope you like…

looks pretty freaking sweet!

any idea on price and/or pedal availability?

THANKS!

At the moment i will only be selling the trap part, but i will be making a kit for sale of the pedal also as soon as i can.

The trap kit itself will be around £40.

couple more update pics! all the resin arrived today so it wont be long now

looking good mate

How heavy would these work out at do you reckon - not too heavy to clip to a belt?

well its going to be hollow when fully built so its not going to weigh too much. also im experimenting with different resin fillers to try and get the strongest but lightest mix possible.

This looks like some very good work. If the final product turns out as well as these pictures I will be very interested in procuring one. Please keep us posted. Thanks.

THANKS! and will do

small update today. as you can see from the photo i have begun work on the front-block and also pulled the first resin cast of the front end (the peach colored part). looking good so far i think

Very nice.

I like how it has many of the parts molded in already. Good for a quick stunt trap.

nice work!! good clean lookin’ trap!!

was your buck made from styrene? can i ask where you get styrene from in the UK?

Lawrence

thanks everyone! the mock up was built using thick plastic card that I ahem borrow from work. we have large signs that say “half price” etc and are great for all kinds of work.

bit of a change of plan also due to a few people asking about if the side walls and pannels are all one piece. the quick answer is yes they are BUT i will be now making 2 types of kit, one with all the side details alreay in place and one wiht the side walls bare so you can add the real parts. of course the bare kit will be a little cheaper too

Me - interested

Must -know- price

thanks for al the interest. as it stands so far the kit will cost around £50. and with that you get the 4 skate bearings, color reference photos, instructions and im trying really hard to find someone who can do the stickers/transfers for me.

updates coming soon

Don´t mind about the stickers… anyone can print them at kinkos or whatever print shop you can find.

How much is that in us$$? will it come with the handle and battery compartment?
