New TV spot featuring Rowan

That’s understandable, but quite unfair to put me in the context of your general frustration. Don’t guilt trip me over something you know you did isn’t right. I wasn’t giving away any information that wasn’t available to anyone who has seen the nationally-run spot–and even if you hadn’t seen it, I highly doubt zapping Rowan in the nuts is some major plot detail that ends his existence in the film–if it is, Sony’s doing a hell of a job of marketing this bad boy. How many posts did we have that referenced who the main villain was before that was officially announced? I mean, we have a whole thread dedicated to thoughts on the first trailer’s debut–obviously with images/scenes from that trailer included, but no one modified that stuff–even though some may not have seen that trailer initially.

A forum is where you go to discuss things. In fact, this TV spot is mentioned in the newsfeed sidebar on the main page to this site. Granted, it’s not called “Rowan nut zap” or something (but ::SPOILER ALERT:: it does boldly mention Stay Puft though–who nobody knew would have some part in this film); I’m not wrong in simply discussing something that I noticed in an official promo for the film. By your logic, all topics/discussions on this movie should cease. I’m sure there’s someone in the world who probably doesn’t know GB16 is coming out, but because that person hasn’t seen a trailer or whatever, no one should talk about anything for risk of spoiling the entire movie? Really?

If it’s on a national TV spot, it ain’t a spoiler.

Maybe it spoil the fact that it’s not a good movie.

Simmer down. It’s not that hard to understand and you are throwing a tantrum.

All movie forums have spoiler free and spoiler heavy threads and are marked as such. In those you can talk freely about the movie and/or use spoilertags. So people can decide for themselves how much they want to be spoiled.

Not everyone watches television and not every country has these TV spots.

Stay Puft should have been hidden in a spoiler as well, even if we all know from the synopsis his involvement is just a small cameo as a possessed carnival float.

Spoiling a joke, even if you think it’s bad, is still spoiling a joke, and wanting to put it in a thread title while your OP contains all but snark to belittle the movie (again) because you don’t like a new joke does not help either.

I’m not going to apologise for putting your post behind spoiler tags.

I’d understand your annoyance and reaction if I’d outright deleted it, but I didn’t.

And spoiler tags aren’t just there for the big plot details either, some (even me) feel that too much of the battle with Rowan has already been revealed, and although having the spots appear on national TV is going to remove some of the choice people have as to how much they see before they actually see the movie, where’s the harm with employing a bit more compartmentalisation via the forum?

I know we don’t agree on this, and that’s fine.

Yes, and nowhere have I said you can’t discuss it, nor has Alpha, but he has raised a point. The spots so far are unique to the American television audience, and haven’t yet been shown overseas. The U.K. spot appears to have only shown up once, and has been pulled from rotation.

Ghostbusters Fans serves as an international forum, even though a lot of the posters are from the United States, while American audiences stand a large chance of seeing it purely by accident on the television, not everyone will.

As for the newsfeed, unfortunately the mod staff have little control over the content it picks up and displays, as it’ll be working with specific code words.

Is it me or in the High Five spot at 0.22 circa there is a quick glimpse of a classic pack? Just after Patty is sucking in the hoover the green ghost?

So does anyone think that when slimer turns around and puts his hands up, he realizes that they are ghostbusters? Or do you think it was just a reaction of surprise. Would be funny is if the multiverse thing is true, and slimer is saying, “oh ■■■■, not here too!”

The quality of the video isn’t great, but I re-watched it a minute ago and slowly moved through the frames of the quick section you referred to, and it’s a reboot Pack.

To borrow something from Ghostbusters: Legion, maybe he’s heard the stories other ghosts have been telling about the Ghostbusters?

Ok. I thought I saw four rotating blue lights similar to the classic red ones.

I think I can see a few things that led you to that conclusion:

*When Holtzmann is lying on the ground, there’s the light from her Proton Pack, as well as the red lights from her “Ghost Grenades”.

*When the shot switches to Patty, there’s a flashing bit of red lense flare.

*When the shot returns to Holtzmann, the prominent red and green lights on her Proton Gun, and the grenades stand out.

And because the video is such a surprisingly low quality upload, it’s not surprising that it looked like a classic Pack.

On a related note, there’s another 1970s billboard that crops up in Times Square, one of the “WAR IS OVER! - IF YOU WANT IT” billboards that was displayed for John Lennon’s 1972 song “Happy Christmas”.

To be precise, the lights I saw were just milliseconds before Mc Carty jumps in with her Proton Punch.

Thanks, Montclaire. You know, I rest my case because there are people on this site that insist on wallowing in their ignorance to prove a point that has no merit. It’s not so much a “tantrum” (as Alphagaia called it) as it is standing up when you’re unjustly & unnecessarily censored–which as an American citizen, I have a right to. The bottom line is, there was absolutely no need for the title of my thread to be changed & a tag added to my YouTube link. Censorship doesn’t just include the total deletion of a post. ANY alteration to someone’s wording because it’s somehow deemed as unacceptable is defined as censorship.

The post’s original title (TV Spot #2 has Rowan Getting Shot in his “Ghost ■■■■■”) wasn’t offensive toward another GBFan member, it wasn’t laced with profanity, & what they supposedly consider “spoiler” material is readily available to the 6.8 million other people who have seen the nationally-run ad either on TV or YouTube. This whole defense about “people in other countries may not have seen the ad” ■■■■ is crazy when you consider there’s an entire thread that discusses the first GB16 trailer in great detail with no spoiler tags or modifications to it.

–But apparently being a moderator of a forum gives people this sense of being holier-than-thou & they get defensive when they aren’t use to people calling them out on their BS. This is how juvenile they are: they formed an opinion of me based on my past threads; my apparent dislike of the trailers (an opinion which I’m entitled to), & because I pointed out something that could possibly reflect the movie in a negative light–which was done totally jokingly–they help turn it an expose on censorship in America. It’s very middle school & clique-ish. I mean, look at how many times the moderator likes a comment by someone that agrees with him. I guess that type of behavior is trending in forum discussions now? :whatever:

The thread about discussing the reboot trailer is clearly marked ‘Reboot trailer discussion’. If you click on that you know you will be spoiled. Even in that thread spoilers that don’t appear in the trailer are (mostly) being put in spoiler tags. Note how the name of the Reboot trailer thread does NOT spoil anything and how the image of the TV spot you placed is already a spoiler an sich.

But long story short:

If you don’t like the rules in your free forum you are participating in, just pm a different mod instead of going on a public ‘freedom of speech’ tirade for hours on end and belittling the mod you have a problem with. Because that’s not helping your case.

That’s a lovely sentiment. :eyeroll:

It’s not censorship to put what you’d written behind spoiler tags - if it were, we wouldn’t have them. I appreciate you’re upset that what you’d posted is not as immediately accessible as it originally was, but I honestly don’t think the response from you is proportional to what happened. If I’d deleted your posts, locked the topic (or even deleted the whole thing outright) then that could be argued as being actual censorship.

I thought it revealed too much (even though it being shown nationally will probably undermine my view in the end), but that sort of stuff (adding spoiler tags, editing topic titles where appropriate or I or another Mod sees fit) is granted to us.

I didn’t change the title because it was offensive, I simply changed it because I thought it got a bit too specific for people who might be trying to see as little of the battle with Rowan as possible.

As it’s a trailer thread (and titled as such), it’s usually assumed there’ll be spoilers inside it.

Putting aside your own “juvenile” rant at spoiler tags being put in your post, you’ve made the assumption that our prior disagreements and arguments was the basis of my decision in this thread. It wasn’t, and I would’ve made that decision with anyone, regardless of whether I’d had a public disagreement with them or not.

I honestly don’t care that you don’t like the film, that’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it. That didn’t factor into my decision here, either.

You’ve assumed and accused me of letting a prior grudge colour my treatment of you. Just bare in mind that you’re definitely letting a prior grudge colour your response to me.

There is no mention of any multiverse elements in the novelization that released on Amazon.

Isn’t this spoiler about the novel in the wrong thread?

Why would Stay-Puft be a spoiler, if his toy with stretch marks, has been in stores and in these forums for a while?

It’s like in the Amazing Spider-Man, when uncle Ben is killed by a burglar

Again, not in all countries, we don’t have the toys yet in the Netherlands, and not every one visits toy stores. It’s not a big spoiler of course, and not a super big deal, but Sanhain decided to make it one. The trailer has been in spoiler tags in other forums I visit out if courtesy for the people who don’t visit every day or are new.

Stay classy, no need to be a dick because you don’t agree a fellow GBfan is in the wrong. Which is either me or Sam, but that’s for the mods to decide.
