Eh, in the right context I think a ■■■■ joke can be alright. However, this is just making me pinch the bridge of my nose so hard its starting to bruise. You can’t look me straight in the face and tell me that we we are being shown here is anywhere near the same tone/style/type of comedy that made the original stand out. ---

Dude. Wow. Spot #2. What has happened to this franchise? So far removed from what Ghostbusters actually is and so incredibly hypocritical at the same time. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. Everytime I think the bar can’t possibly go any lower, it does. Even the supporters are admitting it’s taking a turn for the absolute worst. ---

Really though, what was the last successful comedy film with the same tone/style/type of comedy as the original Ghostbusters? Also, as I’ve seen pointed out on these very forums, a lot of the things we see in trailers don’t end up making the final cut. I would not compare it with the Scooby Doo ■■■■ off as much people seem to do, but place it somewhere in between. I have to see the movie itself to know the flow of the jokes to be sure how to rate it. I do find it annoying every little thing gets blown up so much, though. First it was the Patty is a racist because she is streetsmart (I know New York) and people rioted. Then it turned out she was supposed to be self taught and know New Yorks history. Next it was Feig who was quoted saying GB fans where ■■■■■■■■ and people rioted. Then it turned out it was taken out of context from an interview not even related to GB where he talked about the extremes in fandom’s. I could go on, but one ■■■■ joke, like it or not, does not mean the whole movie is a one note joke fest. Bottom line: people seem to assume the worst every time and riot only to find out later it was misinterpreted or just different. ---

However, everything else being shown pretty much sums up and supports that the ■■■■ joke _is_ the tone we are in for with this film. Lets just see; ■■■■ joke - check, ghost vomit - check, proton beam to the ghost ■■■■■ - check, unrelenting topical references - check…yep, this is what I think of when I think Ghostbusters.[/sarcasm] This film has all the ingredients to become a timeless classic just like Son of The Mask. ---

You guys know that [Slimer](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/characters/slimer) was written to ■■■■ a lot in the first movie, right? It’s not like Aykroyd, Ramis, and Reitman were above ■■■■ jokes and toilet humor in 1984. ---

Heck, the original had a ■■■■■■■ joke, a menstruation joke, dick jokes a plenty and people douced in ghost residue twice. Not to mention the sequel, which even has implied ■■■■ as a women describes an ‘alien’ takes her to his hotel room after some drinks.or Janine playing with a glass ball between her legs while seducing Tully. ---

And let’s not forget the whole excised “ghost pervert” scene, and a deleted line from the script from Venkman about the team “molesting” Eleanor Twitty - I wish I was making those up, but they’re there. While the cultural references could be a bit more recent, it’s not as much of an issue to me because the society we live in at the moment is pretty topical, and you often get homages to classic films in day-to-day conversation.
