# Newbie here....

Hi all! Just thought I’d introduce myself. My name is Matt and I live in Richmond, VA. I’m 25 years old and I have been a GB fan for as long as I can remember. I remeber goin as a GB for halloween when I was like 8. Speaking of which I am in the market for a screen accurate [proton pack](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack) with lights and sounds for a costume I’m constructing. Thanks.

Welcome to the site. Check the For Sale thread. Mostly, you can’t just buy a [proton pack](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack), but you can get all the parts and put it together yourself. I haven’t read too many threads here where someone paid someone else to put together a pack for them and shipped them all the parts. It’s best to construct your own. Check the equipment section. There are plenty of detailed pictures. Everyone’s proton pack is just a little bit different. Putting it together yourself is useful because when you wear it out, something just about always falls off. If you did it yourself, it’ll be a cinch to fix it.

yes, Welcome! Like Ryan said, the for sale section has people who regularly sell parts and sometimes somone is upgrading their pack and selling the [old one](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/characters/old-one).

Personally, I would build one, it is far more rewarding. I’m working on my first screen accurate one now, and yes its a labour of love, and a strain on the wallet, but far less than what you will pay come halloween when everyone starts posting packs. My first couple I made out of cardboard and they were still good enough to get people looking at parties, so that might be somewhere to start.
