Hi. can someone tell me when and why did the ghostbusters recieve the judicial restraining order that prohibited them from busting ghosts?? I thought it was because of the gozer incident but they continued busting ghosts after it ( legion comics, [real ghostbusters](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/games/the-real-ghostbusters-activison) ect..), thanks ---

Neither the RGB or the comics were considered cannon though, I’m pretty sure…Might be inncorrect on this. In movie terms though. I look at it like this; The guys did get thier ghostbusting licenses removed and were barred from any paranormal elimination services due to the Gozer incident, because rather than paying the Ghostbusters the money for saving the city, he pulled a fast one and blamed them for the incidents from the [containment unit](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/containment-unit) exploding thus causing the city that started to tear the city up…So rather, than pay them the bill, the mayor decided to be an ass and completely screw them. What I’d like to know is though is this, if they were barred from Ghostbusting services, why were they able to get away with driving the Ecto mobile around the town using emergency vehicle lights and sirens…I’d be pretty sure that would be a huge breaking the law if you wern’t actually responding to an emergency which the Ghostbusters were barred from anyway. ---

i don’t remember them doing the sirens when they head to the party but the lights i do and maybe nobody cared enough to arrest them or maybe its like the ice cream man playing the jingle they got some kind of permit to do the lights but i don’t remember the siren ---

Awesome! We’re in the 2nd [Ghostbusters movie](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/movies) and here the Ghostbusters go.. off to a bust right in the first few minutes of the movie. Sweet! Can’t wait. … and then.. they are reduced to singing Happy Birthday to brownstone punks. ---

They were most likely issued a Cease and Desist shortly after defeating Gozer, I would wager within a few hours or days. During this time the Attorney General for New York and the District Attorney for New York would need to be pushing on the Courts to issue the restraint order. We can assume this was accepted, however it is possible such an order was not filed until after the government had pleaded it’s case. Which could have been up to several years later. Infer from this what you may. ---

I also wondered the samething about no one stopping them for running the lights and siren. but theyre the ghostbusters…they do what they want! ---

I got a question about Ghostbusters 2 as well: Who found it funny at the end when Viggo was getting shot the heck up with the [Proton Pack](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack) Beams, and The Slimeblower good slime going in his mouth too? My friends and I found that part really funny especially when Viggo is swallowing the good slime while getting shot with the Proton Pack Streams… LOL!! Anyone? ---

Also, if taking into consideration that they were barred from Ghostbusting business straight away, why did they need to modify the uniforms and the [proton packs](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack). I know they were modified due to originals being lost or damaged and to accompany the actors wishes due to weight, but if they wern’t using them on busts why bother upgradeing them! ---

Doubtful they ever took into consideration there would be a GB forum of dedicated sharp eyes and nitpickers 😃 I believe we’re just meant to think it’s all the stuff from the first movie that’s unchanged. The straight khaki suits and the different packs. ---

Well, there is some logic to explaining why they would change stuff. If we assume Ray and Winston did the party thing for awhile, over time the equipment would become well worn. So after five years they would have definantly needed to replace those hoses and most likely the belts. Equipment modification is harder to explain, but most of the cosmetic changes we can assume are the same thing as above. ---

That would have given it a much more pathetic and anticlimax, that would have been great for the scene and the way they were trying to get the scene across. ---

Only recently have I realized how great and funny that scene is. Here are these heroes, guys who saved the world, reduced to doing a lame dance at birthday parties. Just the big goofy smiles on their faces trying to entertain the kids. “and it don’t look gooood” ---

i figure the judicial system takes a while to get things rolling, and it may have taken a while for the city of New york to decide to screw the Ghostbusters over like they did, not to mention that winston made it seem like they were hit by multiple lawsuits. so maybe they had a few good months of business before they were hit by this. Plus the siren light thing… I agree witht he icecream truck theory… and according to venkman in the first film (The franchise rights alone will make us rich beyond our wildest dreams) Well they didin’t get rich, but aparently they have franchise rights, which means even if they can’t bust ghosts, their logo, image, and very concept provides commercial opportunities. Plus I don’t consider RGB and the film versions to be apart of one another… However I wouldn’t mind movie adaptations of the [Extreme Ghostbuster](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/extreme-ghostbusters)… just not with those new packs… though the proton pistol, and the new trap would make a good introductory prototype, but that is neither here nor there… I just think a live action Kylie would look hotter in a jumpsuit… Yes I know she is only a cartoon… But… C’mon… don’t crush my deams man… (Sobs) lol sorry about the tangent [Next page](https://forum.gbfans.com/t/question-about-ghostbusters-ii/23623.md?page=2)
