Hey guys,

What is the best thing to use for the cover on the bargraph? And does it need to be ‘sectioned’ to give that ‘bar’ effect when the lights are activated?

I know the powercell on the pack uses blue cellophane(ish) material, but what is the general consensus for the yellow bargraph lights?

I’ve looked through heaps of other peoples pack photos but its hard to get a good view of the actual cover itself. I cant seem to find a definitive answer on this via the forums either.

The plans mention something about an old camera part being used for this? I don’t know how easy it would be to track down something like that.

Would just clear cellophane work alright? Some of the bargraph light kits look good enough on their own so I’m not sure if putting a clear cover over it would make it look better or worse?

Thanks guys

No one has ever found the exact one, but you can make a similar looking one by getting one of the LED [bar graphs](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/proton-pack/bar-graph) and diluting the light, then putting a transparency with the correct pattern over it. You could also just use a single static light to make a graph that doesn’t move, or skip the transparency thing all together because most people (as in all but possibly one) do not have accurate graphs anyway so no one will really notice.

Depends on your lights. Most people with a light kit just have the lights exposed directly, fitted right into the hole cut in the face of the gunbox. Like TC said, if you want it to look a little more like the movie throwers you can print a pattern on a thin transparency. The label kit shown [here](http://www.gbfans.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=22666&start=120) includes an optional bargraph graphic that can be printed on a transparency.

If you’re not using a light kit that’s designed with the bargraph lights you could cover the hole with any sort of amber or orange tinted plastic, glass, or acrylic, I suppose.

How it is in the movie:

![image]([http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/jackdoud/Ghostbusters\_Wand](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/jackdoud/Ghostbusters_Wand) Lights\_wandmeter.gif)

How I’ve done it:

[http://throwingchicken.com/offsite/proton%20guns/dec09/03%20-%20glossy/glossygun.wmv](http://throwingchicken.com/offsite/proton%20guns/dec09/03%20-%20glossy/glossygun.wmv)

As you can see, the ones in the movie were a lot thinner. The way I have it is more common though, simply because no one has found the original bargraph or really replicated one perfectly.

Awesome guys, thanks for the info that gets me out of a bind. Had no idea what to put in there…

And thanks for that video throwingchicken, I could see the details a bit better there that does help quite a bit.

I guess transparencies it is then, that link you sent me kevin is top notch. Ill get myself a set of those decals, should work nicely.

Huge help guys, thanks very much. Its pretty much the one thing holding my gun progress up at the mo, and I had no idea where to go next. Its not a part that gets much explanation, I guess cause everyone’s light kits are so different.

ThrowingChicken,

How did you mount your bargraph strip inside the box? Bracket?

Thanks.

Another poster found an interesting workaround to make the bargraph pretty screen-accurate in the Tutorials and Guides section.
