# Quik question on Rathco suit sizing

Hope you guys can help me with a quick question.

I am putting together a costume for a halloween party. Someone has a Rathco [flight suit](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/uniform), size medium that they said they would give me for free. I am 6’2" 180 lbs. I am wondering if these run big enough that I could squeeze into a medium for a night.

I would probably normally order a large, but free is tough to pass up! By the time it ships to me, it will be too tough to get something else, so i would like to know in advance if it is likely to work.

The general rule is you always go a size larger than your shirt size. If you wear a large you will need an XL. I doubt you’d even be able to zip a medium. Rothcos don’t have the best tailoring either.

Any idea if the rothco suits will shrink up if you wash them?

I’m a bit curious about this myself as I am about to dye my rothco in a very hot dye bath. If it fits “ok” now, how bad is the shrinkage?
