I thought it was just my machine… I can confirm I’ve been experiencing the same issue with a script causing the pages to take two-three minutes to fully load on a broadband connection.

Hey Guys,

I happen to be using an older notebook with limited resources. Since yesterday, I’ve been getting a message saying that a script is running that is causing Explorer to bog down and possibly stop. I have the option of clicking stop loading the script, and then the page is fine.

Today when I got on, A blue bar across the top of the screen gave a warning about the running script. Only came on once and I didn’t memorize it, but when I clicked on it, the faq/info box opened and had something about XXS (or XSS) scripts and how they piggy back on websites to load software onto computers.

Don’t know if this is by design or not, but that’s what my little notebook says is happening. If you have a machine with more power, it might not mention the extra load caused by the script.

AJ will have to let us know if somebody has leeched onto the forum.

It would help to put what browser you are using.

AJ is aware of the issue (I reported it last night.) I started seeing it first when my system updated to from IE9 to IE10.

Chrome does not appear to have the issue, so I’d suggest using Chrome until he has it sorted.

(I also did not see the issue when checking on mobile yesterday.)

You’re right, it might help if I included that I’m running Internet Explorer 8. Perhaps Gary’s upgrade was at the same time that this started?

I’m not having any trouble with Chorme or Firefox. However, when I use IE8, sure enough, slow loading and then a “Stop Running Script” prompt.

Being a webdev, I’m used to diagnosing stuff like this. I loaded up Fiddler (a program that monitors monitors web traffic and helps debug issues like this) and found a possible culprit.

The site seems to be hanging in IE due to a script being served up by [quantserve.com](http://quantserve.com). Specifically, there is a embedded javascript file, [http://edge.quantserve.com/quant.js](http://edge.quantserve.com/quant.js), that seems to be hanging up in IE. That may also be the file that is hanging up mobile stuff too (depending on what it’s trying to do).

I hope that provides a little insight and a possible route for a solution.

AJ and/or Mods, if I can be of further assistance, feel free to hit me up.

**Edit: I toyed with loading the site a monitoring the traffic a bit more. Looks like the the quantserve script may just be the ad service that rotates out once in a while on the site. I hit the website when it wasn’t in rotation and it appears that a script from facebook may be the real bad guy. Isn’t Internet Explorer wonderful?**

There does appear to be an element from Facebook that isn’t loading properly on the page. When i load up in chome, I’m seeing this:

![image](http://www.gbfans.com/images/pb/TheRockmanX/facebookthingy_zpsc9572809.jpg)

(Red square added by me).

Tracing it in the source, I’m finding an iframe loading a plugin from Facebook source:

```auto
http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=http%253A%252F%252Fwww.gbfans.com%252Fcommunity%252Fviewtopic.php%253Ft%253D34080&layout=standard&show_faces=false&width=950&action=like&font=arial&colorscheme=light&height=25
```

That might be our captain poopy right there.

I’m on Internet Explorer 10.0.9.

As of today, the forum **appears** to be running normally on my machine, and I haven’t updated anything.

The problem is with a Facebook plugin. I have temporarily disabled the Facebook integration… and will be looking at it more closely today.

It will be slow on and off today as I re-enable the script and make changes.
