Can anyone help me with the sizing of a suit? I was looking at the Nomex [flight suits](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/uniform), but I have no idea what the sizes mean, and there’s nothing on the website that explains it. I’m 6’1", and 150lbs. I usually wear a 30 waist pants. I don’t want a suit that’s going to be really baggy, I’d rather it be more form fitting. Anyone know what size would be good for me?

if you can find a site that gives the sizes as small, medium, etc instead of the measurements, then id suggest an XL.

ive got some guys in my crew about that height. the guy looking over his shoulder is right at 6’ and about 175 lbs. and is wearing an Large uniform. the guy looking at the camera is about 6’4-ish, about 200 lbs, and is wearing an XL.

hope this helps.

Hey folks new guy here, adding my two cents. I bought a fairly standard tan nomex [flight suit](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/uniform) that was a size 48L, and I was thrilled since that is the size suit I wear to work. Anyway, when I got the thing it was WAY too small. It was at least several inches too short, and the waist area was TINY.

Just from my own experience I would say the military sizes (I guess that’s what this was) run much smaller than regular men’s dress suit sizes.

Sorry, might be old news but it definitely caught me off guard.

I usually wear a 27-28 inch waist, and a 34 was too small on me, I had to go to a 38 to be able to wear jeans under it. The sizing is definitely a source of puzzlement, for me anyway.

Cheers.

Hey fellas, as I am also wondering how these Nomex suits are measured, does anyone know the size of a person who is 5"7/5"8 , waist size 34-36 and weights at 180lbs.

I’d suggest going a size or two larger than your actual waist measurement if you want to wear street clothes under it. Length probably an R, I’m 5’ 10" and an S was too short.

Yeah you definitely want to assume you need to a couple of sizes bigger, I ended up ordering a 3X size [flight suit](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/uniform) for me, I feel like that CAN’T possibly be too small. But you never know! I will post my results with the 3X so people know how that size runs for future reference.

Howdy,

I was looking into this myself. The Nomex sizes are chest circumferences, as opposed to waist size.
