I found this little device called the Wizard Stick. It’s a battery powered fogger that will run you about $20:

Sounds too good to be true? Well, there is a catch.

The fogger moves the fog and fog fluid through the use of air pressure created by a bulb inside the device which must be squeezed. So, rigging it up to work inside your trap will take a bit of ingenuity and engineering. Also it takes 6 to 9 seconds to heat up once you turn on the power. And it shuts off after one and a half minutes to prevent overheating… but that might be a good thing.

Here’s some more information on it:

The fogger also has an LED which lights up when in use. I’m thinking it may be possible to replace the blue LED with a blinking red one, and rig up a DPST switch to both control the power and switch on some kind of pump to pump the fluid for you.

Also, I found this page which explains the makeup of various types of fog fluid and the risks associated with it:

hmm, that shouldn’t be too hard to rewire with a toggle switch for the power and either another toggle switch or momentary switch for the fog..I’m definitely gonna have to pick one up

EDIT - forget what I said… yeah, while a simple device, it might be quite difficult to modify for a trap.

1. The don’t produce that much fog volume…

2. You need to get the fog out of the trap…

3. You need airflow for this type of device to work…

Now the volume of fog produced depends on two factors mostly, the amount of heated ‘fog juice’ and the amount of airflow… The heated juice needs to come in contact with fresh air to create fog…

Airflow is the problem here, too much airflow and the fog dissipates too quickly, too little airflow and the volume of fog decreases… It’s a delicate balance, even more so on these little devices…

Not saying it’s not a viable idea, I have the above devise and with some experimentation and you can get ‘OK’ results but that is about the best I have been able to obtain… The OK results were obtained with lots of trial and error on controlled airflow both in and out of the simulated trap, IMO over complicated controls for out of ‘lab’ use…

They are fun novelty toys though, if nothing else…

Well do you have any suggestions for a better device? 🙂

Not right now, there has been lots of ideas tossed up over the years but in the end incense is generally considered the best effect overall… But it of course has it’s drawbacks…

Everything else tossed up over the years has pretty much fallen flat on it’s back in regards to performance…

Also my ‘Wizard’ doesn’t have that little fan/tip, I wonder how it effects performance…

You could try the Tiny F07 if money is no object for you…

All that for the incredible low price of $1850

have you see hands-on the “mini smoke”

to compare to that one?

I’m thinking about making my own fogger, being that a fog machine is a pretty easy system, but am wondering how to overcome the same ventilation problems you’re describing…

the problem with incense or any chemicals is the lack of electronic controllability… ☹

There is a thread on [Proptopia](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/fans/websites/proptopia) about that devise, can’t say I have seen much in the way of results…

This is the biggest issue, as I said I was able to get OK results on the work bench in a controlled environment but I don’t believe the system is viable for mobile use outside the controlled environment… My test involved a cardboard box the size of the trap, with multiple attempts at creating exhaust vents/holes and using low volume fans (that were further reduced in volume by dampers) to move the air… You only need a MINUTE amount of air movement, the threshold between too much and not enough is so damn close it’s very hard to control… For me I was either getting too much air resulting in the fog being pushed out too fast causing it to be too dispersed and hardly noticeable to the [flip side](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/real-ghostbusters/flip-side) where there wasn’t enough air movement starving the fogs development and not forcing it out of the trap…

Like I said with enough tinkering I was able to get some decent results but not enough to keep my interest in pursuing it at the time…

I actually designed a two shot electronically controlled delivery system for incense… With the ability to start and stop incense 2 times without reloading… But it would be a costly kit to develop and make…

How did you rig up your fans though? Did you just have one blowing into the trap, mixing fresh air with the fog, or did you use a setup like this, where fresh air and fog wouldn’t mix?

I tried all sorts of ways, you need the fresh air and fog to mix, the heated glycerin mixture’s sudden cooling when it hits fresh cooler air is what creates the fog…

Just like clouds, real fog or steam, it can only be seen when it contacts cooler air and condensates… The fog machines work on the same principle…

What about one of the tiny foggers from [http://www.looksolutions.com/index\_e/index.php](http://www.looksolutions.com/index_e/index.php)?

I don’t actually have a trap yet so I’m not sure if they’ll even fit.
