Welcome to Ghostbusters International!

I think at some point (and Im not sure when) the franchise number system may have been abandoned. (on the GBI boards) But if anyone would know that for sure it’d be Fritz.

Actually it’d be me. I went back through archived material, and found that on the initial GBI master list on GBN the number system had already been abandoned. Which is irritating as hell as I don’t have the original master list anymore.

Yeah when we joined we never got a number. Dan PM me if you need any help setting anything up, I will help in any way I can.

This is an awesome idea. Unfortunately I’m kinda stuck now that I’m in Ohio. I’d like to start my own group but I don’t want to step on John Hibbard’s or any of the other Ohio GB’s toes. Any thoughts on a possible solution?

The only list of numbers I have is one from the GBI/GBInc schism of 2003, and it only applies to the GBInc (the Fan Fic franchise) side of the company. This is it just for ■■■■■ and giggles, as it’s so out of date it’s ridiculous:

Rich’s list doesn’t have any numbers, save for referencing Ghostbusters New York as Franchise 0. If you know what site the list used to be on, maybe we could find it on the Internet Archive?

The U.K. Ghostbusters are up for this if it’s truly international!

I still have the E-Mail my former Co-Founder Ed Ulatoski was given by Louis Tully stateing that Chicago Division is franchise #27. I kept it as back-up on the Company section of GB:CD’s website.

EDIT*: Correction, 29th franchise. Damn, I thought I was higher up the list.

I know I can speak for my guys saying that we’ll join up  PM me if you need any of our info…

what he said. I do 90% of the admin work anyway LOL. Let me know if there are any writs or warrants involved. We had our first meeting 5/24/08. We have a website, a myspace page, a logo, business cards, most of us have uniforms, I have a GB Lab and a critter assistant (Lugnut) and we are trying to get a movie off the ground, but the economy has hit some of our members, so we’re a work in progress! : )

That’s awesome but more than one established list of GBI online is confusing. Is there no way to improve the already existing one?

I’m William Boyer, leader of the Central North Carolina Ghostbusters franchise. We’ve been a franchise unofficially since Octover 18, 2007, the first day we took photos of Gray and I wearing our khaki flightsuits together. I’ve been trying to get the GBI website to accept us but they haven’t for some reason.

Talk with me.

Oooh, ooooh… I want that regional code! I wasn’t certain how many franchises would realistically exist by 2007 so I put 056 on our little GBI print out acceptance paper. I’m hanging it and the EPA liscense on the wall during the filming of our movie. If Gray ever stops being too busy being married and otherwise too lazy to film again. Like I said, unoffcially since Oct. 18th, 2007, but GBI wouldn’t accept us for some reason. Probably because we’ve only got one proton pack, but I recently built/found Gray a pair of Proton Pistols. Also we’ve only got the Myspace so far, but other GBI franchises only work off of a MySpace so I don’t see what the problem is. I’d like to have a site but I don’t do the HTML site side of things. Sadly that’s Gray’s department and it’s a no go 'cuz he so slow, lol. Darn I’d be more upset than this if we hadn’t been buds since kindergarten.

Well, we all are aiming to be like the AZ GB’s with their events and charity work. They got it going on on many levels,

Take heart, though. Some of the other groups are having membership problems and a few folks doing most of the work, and that’s Dave and me here in Pittsburgh. : ) I have talked to soccer moms, church groups, etc, and it seems like 80% of the work is done by 20% of the people.

I recommend The 6 members of The Real Tampa Bay Ghostbusters; Not only are they prop masters, But they’ve held Two Large Events In Orlando this Year, One being The AfterLife Party at Comic Con On I-Drive and Two, The Midnight Flashback Feature Of “Ghostbusters” In Point Orlando’s Regal Cinema. Crusader_X a member here on GB Fans is one of them and He is a great example of the meaning of Ghost Buster.

In the Works for the next up and coming Franchise, The GhostBusters of Kissimmee. I’ve started some prop planing and Hope to have some work done in the next month.

Yeah, sadly I’m pretty much the only one doing anything in my group. Even as the comics stuido “MiloTeam,” which I now realize is no team really, it’s still just me. Most of my friends are only interested in participation enough to join, but not enough to contribute. And the one that will contribute is too busy being married so he doesn’t either most of the time.

Yeah, I’m sadly not a propmaster by far. That’s awesome that you’ve got plans in the works. I hope you’re better at doing it than I am. Oh, and if you’re clumsy or unobservant in the least - don’t use 5-foot band saws bolted to the ground. EVER. Trust me on this one.

Sorry, I forgot I was going to comment on this. Are you saying that soccer teams and churches have the same problem? I was a little lost for a second.

Reading this topic has been enlightening. I am one of the Franchise Executors of Ghostbusters: Doom Patrol, which was founded in 2003 by its creator, CJay. The majority of the members of our team were not president during the original incarnation and first run of Ghostbusters International. Though we were inducted as an official franchise around 2005 or 2006, we have always been a fan fiction team in the same manner of other fictional teams such as The Canadian Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters West Coast.

We were initially a stand-alone team creating stories set in the Ghostbusters movieverse, but in later years we have enjoyed participation into Dr. Fritz Baugh’s GB Omnibus Timeline. As stated above, I was not present from the period between 2000 and 2002 and; thus, had no knowledge of the controversy that ensued over equality between Franchise Teams that get together for comicons and other endeavors and Fan-Fiction Franchise Teams set in the story-telling genre. From what I’ve been told, that culminated in a very bitter dispute that left people sore and (for some) there is lingering wariness and doubt that a fair resolution will come to fruition in the wake of this new incarnation of GBI. Call it what you will, but some old wounds still burn.

The idea of Ghostbusters International is great in theory and, to an extent, has been successful in practice. At the heart of it, the movie that brought us together has manifested in some very great things. People online who you wouldn’t have met otherwise have become lifelong friends. People with the talent to create things with nails, metal, wood, and determination have found association and partnership with other like-minded individuals to work together in actual businesses that have fostered a life for themselves and prosperity for those around them. There have also been those who have found the love of their lives because this community exists. The list of wonderful outcomes that has occurred in the domino effect from the creators of Ghostbusters, to Bill Emkow, to the fans is nothing short of astonishing. One person’s idea truly can effect the world.

On the flip side, it has caused pain for some. There have been those who’ve come and gone who’ve spoiled the mood for others. Wars have been made, tears have been shed (seriously), and alliances formed that have split this community apart in very different directions. All one needs is to look at the history between Ghostbusters.net, GhostbustersHQ.com, and Ghostbusters: Nightsquad. In the end, this had eventually lead to an “us vs. them” mentality. For the ‘International’ part in GBI to truly mean something, we can never have this mentality again. This is what brings me back to “old wounds still burn”.

When this is all said and done, there may actually be three classes of franchises in the new GBI:

• Franchise Teams in cosplay

• Franchise Teams in Fan-Fiction Only

• Franchise Teams in both cosplay and Fan-Fiction

I believe it was AJ Quick who stated above that a section of GBFans would have a specified page promoting and fostering the Fan-Fiction Community. If you look at the Fan Fiction Forum right now, its dormant. There are still teams out there who put out consistent work that need emphasis put back into that genre of the Ghostbusters Community, but regardless its not getting the promotion its needs. Its no secret, and I’ve had this conversation with many veteran writers who’ve put their all into chronicling the GB legacy that its a detriment to new fans who find the GB Online Community who won’t know the joy of reading about ‘the boys in grey’ long after the movies are done. Its the Cosplay Franchises, the Fan-Fic Writers, the Proppers, the Online Community Regulars, and the casual fans who keep this dream alive. If any one of them falls, the whole thing loses steam.

So, really its more than getting together groups of teams for charity work and cons/events, its giving equal respect and thorough promotion to those five corners that make up this community. That is what the new GBI should be about.

The SCGB are somewhere in the middle. We don’t have any fan fics (yet) and I don’t know how much “cosplay” we will do (if that is like LARPing or something) but we have made some appearances at cons (we are at the Steel City Con next week) and we are working hard to get our fan-film off the ground --we start filming next week!!!. Lots of work, but I like building props and we are making friends, too. : )

Cosplay is nothing but dressing up in costume and being in character. That’s what ya do at cons.

BTW, Mr. No-Ghost nailed that one. GBCD has been dead for 5-6 years because of that retarded war ■■■■ years ago. We stopped because it wasn’t fun anymore. Hopefully, if people aren’t stupid, we’ll get some new blood this time around that isn’t tainted and we can get our lives and franchises back in order.

thanks for clearing that up, dan. Then, I guess we are cosplaying. : ) I play myself, Dave, plays himself, and Bob plays himself, so that may be off the beaten path (not sure about that) But with the movie we decided it would get to confusing. we do have April AKA Dr. Tyler Smith and Dan AKA Cliff Roswell, so we do have some folks who aren’t themselves. : ) That would be nice to have a new GBI. I emailed them but never heard anything back from them. Oh, well. I guess we will forge a new frontier here at GBFans since we have been active over here. It would be nice to get something from GBI site, but I guess it isn’t mandatory.

Is this a total re-vamp on GBI??

If so, here are my two cents.

As MNG mentioned, last time this started some people got squashed. If you also note Fritz’s list of fan-fiction teams from GBInc (the fan-fiction substitute for GBI), the “real” teams and the fan-fic teams were separated. (CGB was #5..I still keep them alive.. somewhat.)

I don’t want the separation garbage to happen again. I’d really like GBI to be less about rules and telling fans what qualifies them as “Real” or not, and to make it a hub to connect the teams, and in the case of some of the cosplayers, a place to connect potential clients to them for their services.

It would be really nice to have a GBI site with a list of the teams, info on each team and then to connect to that team, whether they have a website, a myspace page or whatever.

To me, something like GBI is about getting fans together, the more fans who can participate the better. Not everyone can afford to have props, or is skilled enough to make them. But that doesn’t mean the spirit isn’t there.

I wholeheartedly agree.
