I did a search but couldn’t find it. We all know that Ecto-1 has been restored. But what about Ecto-1a? Where is that at? Last time I heard it was in bad shape and I had seen pictures. This was a few years ago. ---

It’s currently being restored, from what I remember. The only one restored right now is the Ecto-1. ---

Last I heard it was “going into being restored” but I never actually heard it was being restored, and i’m guessing if it was being restored by now we would have not only heard something but seen pictures, so i’m guessing it’s still sitting somewhere. Vivendi got the ball rolling quick with the restore of Ecto-1, but Ecto-1a is alot more expensive, and being that the merge kicked the game out of Vivendi’s “care”, and the game has already come out, IF it’s not being restored currently I don’t see how it’d be getting restored in the near future, unless it was called for in GB3…which may or may not be made. ---

I guess any information you’re looking for would be in the Blu-Ray edition of Ghostbusters since they have a restoring of the Ecto-1 documentary. ---

If you look in the Reference Photos, under the Equipment section, you will see The Restoration Project of Ecto-1. There are pictures in there are of the Ecto-1A. so I’m assuming the same company that restored the Ecto-1 are working on the Ecto-1A? Either that or used it for parts, haha (sorry). Here’s a few of those pictures (there’s 9 pictures total in the reference section): I hope it is getting worked on. After all the punishment it went through at Universal Studios, it deserves it. ---

Even though in comparisson to the original, the Ecto-1A looks horrible to me, I still cry when I see those photos. ---

Ecto-1a is getting restored but do to people trying to break in the shop and get spy photos nobody is allow to see it till it goes back to Sony. We will all see her soon 😉 ---

if you have got the blue ray, there is some shots of ecto 1a in the film about ecto 1. dont know what they are doing but some shots of ecto one, the back door of the car has the gb1 logo but if you look you can see the gb2 logo under it. dont know if they have used parts from 1a to remake ecto 1??? ---

As i understand it the original plan was to restore both cars but due to budget issues the decision was made to just do one, the most logical choice being Ecto-1…so the 1A body was used more or less as a parts car, as seen in the game and blu-ray docs (there are at least 2 shots of the 1a body, one from the driver’s side where the 2 logo outline is visable on the driver’s door, and one from the rear that shows the rear door outline and the dent in the driver’s quarterpanel, which isnt there later when they show an equally distressed 1’s quarter…along with an “equipment shot” that shows the black and grey 1A dish sitting on a shelf) I say on both docs rather than THE doc as there is a slight recut allowing more game footage on the game version of the doc…but I digress either way, so far all signs point to 1A being a parts bitch and probably spit back on the lot. Also shouldn’t this be in [the Ectomobile](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/equipment/ectomobile) section since it’s about the current status of an ectomobile and not directly about GBII? ---

I feel that now they got to restore Ecto-1 as a gift for [dan aykroyd](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/people/dan-aykroyd) celebrating there 25th anniversery of the first [ghostbusters movie](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/movies), I now wonder why can they also restore the Ecto-1A as well. I can imagin them fixing it up and restoring her just like how they did with ecto-1, I could watch the clip on youtube again and picture it as if it’s the 1a in some ways. I hope some day these guys will get to restore her in the same garage as they did before with ecto-1 but I guess the only good question is who will they give it to as a gift this time, I guess maybe when they celebrate there 30th anniversery I believe my best guess would be Winston himself ([Ernie Hudson](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/people/ernie-hudson)), imagin seeing him excepting it and glad that he dosen’t have to pay for it either even if he wanted too, that would be something. ---

I thank you for your respons kingpin, well I hope oneday they’ll take the time to fix her up too once that problum with the expensives can be solved, I would like to see Ecto-1A restored and driving by [ernie hudson](https://www.gbfans.com/wiki/people/ernie-hudson), we may never know but we can try to hope on that. ---

One that looks like you said trashed up like it ran in to something and it’s look like there’s another one in the garage looking like it’s been sitting there for awhile like Ecto-1 has, I hope that the same garage workers that restored ecto-1 will restore 1A as well, we just have to try believe they will. ---

I remember seeing pictures of both Ectomobiles at the garage for restoration back in 2009. Later info I believe revealed budget issues preventing completion of 1A. However, since both vehicles were taken apart, does anyone know what happened to Ecto-1A? Is it still waiting to be finished for the GB 2 Blu-ray? If GB III does happen, wouldn’t it be cool to have the cast arrive for the premiere in a parade of all 3 Ectos? Or do some kind of event like WB did for Comic Con with all the Batmobiles last year? A fan can only dream… ---

1A is rusting to bits in a lot somewhere. EDIT: Also, the Ecto’s don’t seem to be the kind of movie car a studio thinks should be indoors. Our recent trip to LA showed multiple vehicles that the studio is more than happy to brag about having, while they are exposed to the weather. ---
